I would have way too many - depending on why am having the bad day. Am a bit of a Movie/TV show addict. I like watching alot of Hallmark movies (cheesy romantic ones that you can predict what happens from the beginning). But sometimes might be Little Mermaid or the other day I was down I watched Pride & Prejudice (Kiera Knightley one) and Ever After.

Hi all,

Today was a bad day for me. I just call them "bad days" - it simplifies it for me.

On bad days when I'm feeling particularly teary (like today), I like to watch one of my go-to movies when my depression is at the front of my mind. Mostly, it's to help me cry at something other than myself.

Some of my go-to movies:

- Extrelemy Loud and Incredibly Close

- Crash

Do you have go-to movies for bad days?

Hi Wild,

I used to have go-to movies for bad days as well. My favoured movies were:

The Holiday, Dan In Real Life, Love Actually, Something's Gotta Give and Bruce Almighty

I'd also watch TV show episodes when I was feeling unhappy or anxious, namely:

Everybody Loves Raymond, Full House and Modern Family

I wonder if any of these would appeal to you, even if just one or two? 🙂

Best wishes,

Hi Wild,

Nothing better than a great movie when you're feeling down. These always pick me up a little....(movies about lonely/sad people connecting etc...)

-When Harry Met Sally

-Yes Man

-Somethings Gotta Give

-As Good As It Gets

to name a few!

Ah surely my favourite is 'What Dreams May Come' starring a Robin Williams (RIP Robin, I miss you). An odd choice maybe since it is a tear jerker towards the end but you come away with hope and a smile at the end and that's good in my book.

Nora Ephron was a brilliant screenplay writer/director - she wrote quite a few good movies..(When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle) she recently passed away. Over the years some of my fave movies are As Good as It Gets, Something's Gotta Give, You've Got Mail,

Only When I Laugh (based on true story)...That's Life (with Julie Andrews, Jack Lemmon and also starring their grown up kids); a lesser known British film Antonia & Jane (about 2 best friends who aren't aware they go to the same psych...and talk about each other etc....a bit quirky, won't appeal to everyone........

I'd be lost without my DVD player and the valuable "escape"my movie collection gives me......if it makes you feel good, watch it I say!.............Cheers, M

I also love Pitch Perfect.

Me too Carol, I like the Sabrina movie with Audrey Hepburn. Pride and Prejuduce and also Emma, Mansfield Park.

Another favourite of mine is "Sissy" it is in English subtitles and has beautiful scenery of lush green hills and such.

Driving Miss Daisy, Ladies in Lavender, Anne of Green Gables, Sound of Music.

It's a wonderful life is an old one, I think, but it has a inspiring message especially when you are feeling sad.

And... Finding Nemo, Walle ( incorrect spelling there) and Garfield, are very chill out cute ones.

Hey Shell,

I mentioned to you before but Monarch of the Glen is a tv series but another one of my go to feel good shows. It is a drama but very funny and has beautiful characters. It is set in the Scottish Highlands and the scenery is breathtaking xx

Hi!

Following this post!

Whenever I have a bad day I reach for the newest comedy. Good comedies are so hard to find now but love and watched most of what is on this list. I used to work at a video store so that was a great bonus!

My go-to is usually Pinterest (eep) but if I do watch something it's usually TV. Last few that I saw and loved were The Good Wife, The Office (US) and Parks and Recreation.

Hi Paul,

I have been meaning to watch that since I saw the new one. I know it's got Dudley Moore in it. I must find a copy. I had friends who saw the original who hated the new one but I did get a laugh from the new one. I especially liked his collection of cars.
