Hi julsey,

Sorry to hear how much you've been struggling lately with your trauma; I completely get the feeling of how it feels like yesterday even if it's been years.

A support group sounds like a great idea, this isn't something I've tried myself, but here's a link with support services in each state. If it's not what you're after, you can let me know what state you are in and I can hunt down some more services for you 🙂

its been a while since i’ve been on here, but i need some support. it’s been 3 years since my trauma but somehow, it feels like yesterday. ive had a complete relapse over the past few months and know it’s due to this. ive been diagnosed with ptsd this year but i’m really struggling to cope with it. i’m having periods of time where i don’t remember anything (this only occurs when i am distressed) and i’m exhausted all the time. i’m wondering if maybe there is a support group for people who have experienced sexual assault? i think speaking to people who have gone through the same thing might help but i’m not sure where to turn.

after the assault, i received no support from friends, family and school and i think this feeling has stuck with me through the years. lots of feelings of guilt and just worthlessness .

anyway, just looking for some help.

Hi Julsey,

Thank you so much for your openness and honesty, and I'm so sorry to hear how you've been struggling. I can see that others on this forum have already offered you support, and as someone who has been through a similar experience, I would also recommend a support group, or even having a chat to a therapist about it. It was very relieving for me to be able to discuss my own trauma with an objective third party.

You could even try journalling, if you haven't already. This is another great way to express and consolidate your thoughts. You could even (if you feel comfortable) treat it as a letter or an expression of everything you'd like to say to the person/people responsible for your trauma. This is something else that my counsellor suggested to me.

I hope this helps, and I wish you solace and peace in your struggles.

Take care, SB

Hello there,

Maybe it would be good to practise mindfulness like doing something you enjoy to distract yourself from your phobia. It’s also good to have a support person to help you. I hope you find peace. I think you are strong and courages.

Kind thoughts
