Hi Georgia

And welcome to Beyond Blue - thank you for coming here and providing this thread about PTSD.

It's such a difficult illness to cope with and it needs a lot of attention and care given to it - to the person who is suffering.

Shutting down triggers is easily written and said - but in normal everyday life, there can be numerous triggers that will flick a switch inside. I guess what helps is with time - with time, the switch (well for me) will still always be flicked to the 'on' position, but just not as quickly as it used too.

I suffer from this - and I've been having counselling for many years - and for along time it took ages to find the right psyche, but I have now and so that's good.

Your post was very short, sharp and to the point (some might even say succinct or even concise) - everything that my posts aren't! 🙂 🙂

Are you able to let us know if you've already been to a GP, whether you are on any meds, etc?

And we don't need to know what the PTSD is (that's totally up to you whether you wish to say anything - we'll still give you as much support as we can), but may I just ask, how long ago was it for you? So we can get a little idea for how 'raw' this could be for you right at this moment?

Look forward to hearing back from you Georgia

Neil
