Hi, welcome

Thankyou for reaching out here. We are not a "chat group" as such, we are peer advisors with ongoing mental health issues that have the ability to balance that and help others with out lived experiences.

Nevertheless, indeed many of us likely have or are experiencing PTSD, burnout and can relate to what you have endured. Many of those possibly dont recognise that they have PTSD along with their other mental challenges. It could be, that we have had so many of these challenges that has led us to PTSD, either way we feel burnt out and at later stages in life we have to seek refuge to quieter places, less crowds, less of the human element in our lives especially those without the necessary empathy, so we can survive.

By all means if you think I or others here can help in any way through our advice the reply and keep this post going, use our library by using "search" which is vast.

I started out in the military, then prison service and so on.

THERE ISN'T ANY RANK (to military veterans)

Perhaps you want to dance in the rain?

When black clouds dance upon your brain

When no words are in any particular order

Post-traumatic stress disorder

Its ok to prop in the middle of the trees

Or sit on a park bench feel free to freeze

Its ok to go into a shell and go quiet

As long as your loved ones know you’re alright

And in the middle of the night if you chose

A spider to dance upon your nose

Under a bush In the corner of your land

It not matter if no one understands

To find your peace and rest your soul

To watch a mother and her foal

Or a plane that flies that you cant ignore

Even if it reminds you of the Asian war

Its ok, to find your heart and where its been

And all the horror and the events in between

Its ok mate you are not alone

Even with a ex serviceman that writes a simple poem

You’ll be ok mate, rest assured

Just let your loved ones know – to feel secure

That you will find peace to understand

Even under trees in the corner of your land.

Remember you are valued and you are true

You've done no wrong and we haven’t forgotten you

There isn’t any rank and there’s no particular order

Post traumatic stress disorder….

TonyWK

Looking to form a support chat group for fellow teachers who feel like they are challenged by the above.

I believe that in these unchartered waters within education , PTSD and/ or burnout creeps up on us all. No matter what specialist area we are working in. For me, it came from a Special Needs/ Inclusion/Indigenous environment. I love my work BUT my central nervous system had other ideas🌴

Guest

yes many jobs are stressful being education or aged care. I worked with special needs children but I found the politics among the staff was very exhausting:Teaching children was rewarding.

Hi there,

I can relate to this I think (at least to some degree x). 😢

I have taught for a really long time and I was really good at it, did enjoy the job mostly.......but felt constantly exhausted, unappreciated, as if what I had done was never enough...... and now I feel chronically burned out x.

I have not been diagnosed with PTSD, but do often wonder if it could be a possibility. My nervous system is also constantly not functioning well either x

I am so sorry you are struggling- you are doing an amazing job 😊x Please know the students (even if not shown) are so grateful for the hard work you put into your job. It is definitely a more than full-time job (I believe) and Teachers, Education Assistants, Cleaners, and all staff who contribute towards children's education are incredibly giving, kind and beautiful souls. x ✨
