Is there anyone out there who is in the same situation as me. My husband was a train driver and with all the fatalities he has suffered from he now has PTSD along with neurological problems.

I would like to talk to someone who is a support person for a person with PTSD preferably another train driver partner. No offence to any other profession or professional who has PTSD but at the moment i can only deal with someone who has experienced the "same" situation as me.

Im new to this so i apologise in advance if i have offended anyone- that is not my intention but i do read feedbacks from everyone that has already posted.

thank you for your help

Hello Sparkling Lady

Welcome and thankyou for posting with us. The forums are a safe and judgement free place for you to post!

The forums do have a volunteer that has extensive knowledge re C-PTSD....I will do my best in you getting a response as soon as I can.

You mentioned C-PTSD in your thread topic which is different diagnosis from PTSD

You havent offended anyone at all. I cant really assist you effectively as my background is chronic anxiety/depression under management

Please bear with us in the meantime if you can

My kind thoughts for you and your husband Sparkling Lady

Paul

Hi and welcome Sparkling Lady;

Your request is unusual, so finding someone in the same situation as you could be near impossible. But, you never know... If you create another thread - like an advertisement - it could attract the attention you need. Suggestion... 'Looking to connect with 'other' wives of traumatised train drivers'

In your introduction post, just say it up front; "I'm looking for support from women who've gone thru it. If anyone know's someone, please ask them to post on here." Then stay in touch and post something once a week to keep it on top of the recent posts list.

As this site's for anonymous connections between people, no contact details are allowed to be exchanged. I'm sure you're desperate to find someone having similar concerns with a loved one. Unfortunately we don't have a msg board either.

I'm wondering if the spouse of a paramedic with ptsd would be helpful. It's not trains, but it's as close as you get.

I'm not in your situation, but I may be able to network with you to find what you're looking for.

I wish you success in your travels;

Kind thoughts;

thank you for your advise Paul and yes husband has C-PTSD as he has been diagnoised as this by all professionals in one particular case a "top psychiastrist that deals with this has stated that he has never seen anyone as bad as my husband in all the years he has been practising" so he isnt in a "good place" and i guess that im treading in "murky water" as i have "nobody" that has been in this situation and i just dont know how to handle it.

I keep posting and see what happens. Thank you again.

thank you Just sara for your advise. I will work out to do separate thread as i have never done something like this before. I know these things are confidental which is great i just wanted to "hide behind my computer" and "talk" to people this way. I have thought about talking to other first response spouses but i havent found anyone, and i do now other train driver wives however their partners have not dealt with the "same amount of trauma" as hubby or they are dealing with it in different ways.

thanks again Just sara i will keep posting.

Hi again Sparkling;

Thankyou for your response as we sometimes don't receive replies. I'm glad I could help.

This forum's for people to shed their feelings and frustrations no matter the cause or circumstances. You're absolutely welcome to write about anything you want.

Could I suggest my thread; 'Complex PTSD - What is it and how do we cope?' which is pinned to the Trauma and PTSD section of the forum. I've suffered with cptsd since childhood and am now in recovery. I still face triggers which I've only just posted about there. You may find the first page of the thread interesting and helpful in understanding your husband.

You can ask questions or comment at any time. It'll be received with care and compassion, and you never know; someone may see your words and identify with them. Please feel free to get to know other carers too. Although situations are different, there are common denominators that many share.

You're a courageous woman and deserve congratulating.

Kind thoughts;

NB.. In addition to the cptsd thread I mentioned, there's a thread called; 'PTSD for Medical and First Respondents' which you may find helpful. Just FYI.
