Hi, my friend,

I’m really sorry you’ve been carrying so much lately. It sounds like you’ve had a lot going on with work, chronic pain and family, and it must be exhausting to feel like you’ve lost interest in the things that used to make you happy. I can also hear how much you’re struggling with how you see yourself at the moment.

When you say you’re “not sure why you’re even here”, I’m concerned about you. Can I ask what was going through your mind when you said that? I’d really encourage you to reach out to someone you trust and talk about how you’ve been feeling. Would that be helpful? If you would prefer to speak to someone anonymously, you can contact a Beyond Blue counsellor on 1300 22 4636.

From what you’ve shared, I can see that you’re really trying to work through everything you’re facing, and I think that shows a lot of strength. Would it help to talk with your wife about some of the difficulties you’re facing right now? You feel like your wife may hate you, but that may not necessarily be the case. She may be worried about you and simply not know how to express what she’s feeling.

How does that sound?

Warm regards,🤗

ViolettaZ

The warmest of welcomes to you at such a challenging time in your life, in so many ways.

An informative Google search could involve 'The impact of chronic pain on dopamine'. The side effects of chronic pain can be plenty. Not only is there a physical /chemical impact but such pain can also have a mental impact. Throw in some soul destroying factors and you can be dealing a trifecta that no one can relate to unless they've been there themself.

In the last handful of years before my mum's passing, I did a fair amount of research into the impact of chronic pain while trying to reassure her that how she was feeling and thinking wasn't her. She was facing a lot of the side effects of the pain she was experiencing, including some depressing side effects. I was also led by my chiropractor to look into the significance of 'breaking the pain cycle' regarding my own short term challenges with chronic pain at the time when I was suffering from it. He advised me to speak to a GP about ways to break the cycle. Breaking the cycle of pain can make a major difference. Looking back, I can recall feeling 1)relief from pain, 2)far less stress, 3)less exhaustion and 4)happier with a little more energy.

Definitely worth talking to your GP. If you do happen to be taking something for the pain and it's not working, it pays to find something that does work. By the way, I can remember asking my mum's rheumatologist whether much loved hobbies can act as a natural anti-inflammatory (based on some research I'd done). She said one of her clients swore by his woodworking hobby as being something that helped reduce pain for him. With stress being a contributor to pain, something that offers stress relief can act as a contributor to pain relief. Of course, it's not necessarily going to rid someone of pain 100% but every % counts.

I feel for you so much as you face what feels so debilitating.
