Hi, welcome.

I have PTSD, depression, etc. so I have nightmares too, even stuff that has never happened to me or anyone I know, but I also have stuff that has happened, even if some of it is different, and flashbacks.

Do you have a professional you can talk about these things to?

Like, I don't even know how my brain comes up half the crap I have nightmares about.
.

I'm talking my best friend assaulting me, watching my husband get hurt, myself getting attacked, cheating on my husband and last night my brain decided my nana committed suicide... Just why?

Is this just normal with poor mental health or am I just really screwed up?!

Had one that used to come over and over again.
World is ending, earthquakes, tsunamis, Meteors and find myself far away from my wife and family calling out to my wife to try find her.

I know its some sort of insecurity for sure but it did go on for many many months.

Silver light
I have weird vivid dreams that can be disturbing. They involve weird things happening to people I know and me.
I used to want to find a reason and I’d write them down.

Now I try to forget them.

Do you find it hard to forget the dreams ?

Hi SilverLight

I feel for you with the nightmares as I used to have them too when I was under mega stress from my career or personal life...Just for myself my nightmares used to that chronic I used to wake up in a cold sweat and had to change my T-Shirt as it was soaking wet

Ongoing stressors can sometimes give us these awful nightmares

Just from my own experience....You are not screwed up at all as you have been proactive enough to create your own thread topic....which takes serious strength to do...It took me many weeks to post my own thread topic in 2016 as I didnt have your courage

any questions are always welcome..There are many gentle people on the forums that can be here for you SL. I really hope you can stick around the forums....only if you wish to of course

my kind thoughts

Paul

When I was going through severe depression about 5 years ago, I regularly had nightmares. While I was being treated, I started using aromatherapy as well, frankincense and sage helped.

The mind can do weird things under duress.
