Hi Leisa68

thanks for replying. I am still breastfeeding my child who is about 2 and I am told I should wean but at the moment all I can focus on is my mental health and also my degree at uni which is due to finish in a month. So my struggle started about 2/5 months ago when I was diagnosed with some health issues and while we just entered the pandemic I got quite frightened that it might be a related issue which I was wrong. However, I got more and more anxious and got more physical health issues and then my mental struggles started....

I’m new in here but I just wanted to ask if anyone else feeling the same. I feel really strange as if I’m the only person in this world and that everyone else is in my imagination. I can’t sleep at allll and every day is becoming harder and harder. Things seem so fake.

Hello Seeta, and a warm welcome to the forums, and yes, many years ago I always felt as if there was a glass wall between myself and anyone else, not necessarily a brick wall because at times I could still see what was happening, but disconnected from them.

When you feel like this, the more you worry about it, and then this feeling can begin to annoy you, and the longer I denied this the worse it became.

We're pleased that you've come to the site because what may happen is that you lose touch with what's going on and how to direct you on a path of recovery.

Can I ask you, and only reply if you want to, have you seen a doctor and given any medication.

Hope to hear back from you.

Geoff.

Hi Geoff and thanks for replying. I have started seeing a psychiatrist and been prescribed medication which hasn’t helped at all. I can’t take any other medication as I am breastfeeding too.

Hi Seeta,

I went through a similar feeling a while ago. I felt disconnected from the world, and I was breastfeeding too. I had just had my son. There is some medication that you can take whilst breastfeeding, maybe you could check with you psychiatrist? I was on some medication which helped me after the birth of my son. The disconnected feeling was quite frightening for me, however, I have got through this period and know you will too.

Sending hope and kindness

Hi Seeta,

My understanding is that you know what is best for yourself and your child. I was also studying when I was feeling unwell which did add to my anxiety and deepened my depression. In my case, I ended up in a hospital with Postpartum depression and spent six weeks there. When I think back, I should have sought out more help with clarification in what I was feeling. I should have talked more to health professionals. I came out of the hospital much better and with better coping skills to handle my anxious thoughts. And there wasn't even a pandemic then. These times are particularly hard and this may be exacerbating for you. Your feelings are real and you need to validate them.

Please continue to see your psychiatrist and GP. Keep coming back to these forums and seek out appropriate answers to your feelings. I have had a recent setback mentally and that is what I am going to do for myself.

Take care of yourself and hang in there
