I feel like I’m ruining everything. I’m constantly upsetting people because I just can’t stop getting angry. I’m always so irritable and anything will set me off. My anger is always too intense for the tiny thing that upset me. I don’t know why I always overreact in this way. It’s pushing people away from me. I’m hurting people but I just can’t bring myself to say sorry. I just can’t apologise. If I could it would make things better but I just can’t and I don’t know why. I always just feel so empty and worthless and small issues always seem bigger than they are. I get this small amount of satisfaction when I cause an arguments because at least I feel something, but it always comes crashing down around me.

Please help me

Hi cflaz

I myself can get a bit irritable when I am anxious. Also my housemate also has a bit of anger when he is depressed or anxious. I see how much he struggles with it. But he saw his gp and got a referal to a psychologist and he is getting less angry and more happy these days.

It can be hard dealing with anger when you don't completely understand why you are angry. It can be a tricky thing to deal with. I suggest going to see your GP and maybe getting a referral to a psychologist to help you deal with it. I think without dealing with the thoughts (and maybe underlying issues) you may struggle to deal with the anger, otherwise it would just be a bandaid

Hello cfalz,

Welcome. Thanks for sharing your story with us and being honest about your feelings. I think many people here will relate to what you wrote.

Ms Purple has written helpful advice.

I get angry over small things when I am tired or sick and often in the morning.

I am not a morning person and I often become very sensitive and angry in the morning.

Are you angry all day or do you find certain parts of the day make you angrier.?

When you get angry over small things is it because you are frustrated or upset things don't go as planned.

Working out what makes you angry and if you can see a pattern will help with understanding your outbursts.

The fact you acknowledge you have a problem is the first step in trying to work out what is causing the anger.
