topic Marriage and depression in Depression

Hello Chainofdaisy, it wouldn't be easy to post a comment on this topic, and I say this because my wife had PND after the birth of our second child.

I'm not qualified to say whether or not you also have it, a doctor will need to diagnose you, but from what you have told us I feel so terribly sorry for you.

I know how you feel because I also developed PND but neither of us had any counselling, she didn't want to, and I didn't know at that stage that I also had it.

It's impossible for you at this stage 'to do more to get better' it just doesn't work like that.

The saddest part of your loneliness is that sometimes you have the feeling that your partner feels the same way that you do.

If you feel you need to go into hospital then ask your doctor, this is important to do, for the sake of your health.

I'm sorry I don't feel as though I have given you enough attention, but hope you can reply back to us.

My best.

Geoff.

I’m at a point where I don’t know what to do. My depression and anxiety have reached a severe point after the birth of my first child 4 years ago. I’m in such a dark place and know I’m not easy to handle nor the situation but my husband just doesn’t seem to understand my condition. Tonight I got the comment of “I need to do more to get better” despite the fact I go to a psychologist and psychiatrist and am on medication. Yet he doesn’t want me to go into hospital.

I just feel so unsupported and starting to feel alone in my marriage. He won’t come with me to see my psychologist to get a better understanding of what goes on in my head. I don’t know what to do, I don’t know how Im meant to be in a marriage with someone who can’t be that calm in the storm or doesn’t try to understand this disease.

has anyone else had this experience?
