Hi Rfb1234

That first step is one of the hardest. You did it. Takes a lot of courage and strength that we don’t realise at the time.

This illness takes its toll on us and our relationships, I’ve only told close family and 2 friends that I no won’t judge me. It’s incredibly hard but you’re not in this alone. Sometimes you just need to open up to someone you trust for extra support. Especially when you have a bit of a wait to see your psychologist.

I’ve found coming to this forum when I feel I’m struggling helps, I read other posts and see I’m not the only one feeling this way. There’s a lot of tips/ advice shared too that you can try if you’re up to it.

I no it’s hard to just hang in there and wait, try and use as many resources as you can in the meantime. Talking here people will always listen

Hi,

I have just gotten back from seeing my GP for a mental health care plan. After almost 2 years of what I believe is a relapse in my depression.

This time though, I couldn't put on a brave face, I kept crying and shaking.

He has referred to to an affordable psychologist which is a month wait... I don't think I can deal with another month battling with myself. I'm at breaking point in my friendships and relationship. I just don't know what to do from here.

Hi Efb1234,

Well done on taking that big step towards getting well by seeing your GP. It's ok that you can't put on a brave face right now. Sometimes it is all we can do to keep going let alone pretend that we are happy about it.

I understand about the long wait. It is tough when you need help NOW! Have you tried to call a helpline? When I was suffering from post natal anxiety it was a pong wait to see a psychologist, so I called PANDA inbetween whenever I felt overwhelmed.

Beyond Blue has a good one 1300 22 4636. It can be really helpful to actually speak to someone, even if it is on the phone.

kind thoughts, Jess
