I cannot shake this overwhelming feeling of being on edge all the time. It drains the little strength I have. I feel flat sad and frightened all the time. I’m tired mentally and physically, become overwhelmed with everything. Can’t wait to go to sleep and feel even worse when I wake up. This has been going on for months now and I am worn out.

Dear Monty

Hello and welcome to the forum. So pleased you found your way here. You sound very upset and distracted. Is there a physical reason for your distress? I ask in case you are unwell and it's having an effect on your mood.

I suspect there may be something tangible happening in your life which is affecting you. Do you know what it is? I'm not prying into your life, just want to help.

It could also be you have become anxious as this can result in these feelings you have. In any event I suggest a visit to your GP. Lack of proper sleep may be OK for a couple of days but not over a long period of time. Having got to this stage I suspect you are not thinking clearly which is always scary and this is building on your sleeplessness which adds to the distress and so on.

A good starting place is a visit to the doctor. Please be sure to tell him/her all that is happening. Will you let us know the outcome of the appointment?

When you reply perhaps you could tell us more about yourself. That would be great.

Mary
