Hi Busybee,

No need to complain about feeling negative, been there done that...as recent as yesterday and this morning!

Okay, so you are not pregnant, that is one test you don't have to perform! You can save a bit of money there. Have no idea how much a pregnancy test kit costs these days.

Hopefully the hearing test will give you some answers. When you have the ringing in the ears, does listening to soft music help at all?

Sounds like your hormones are okay, not sure what the antibodies mean in your thyroid.

You may well be experiencing health anxiety, I don't know a lot about anxiety, my issues are more stress and depression related.

Have you seen a psychologist or therapist to help you deal with your anxiety?

It must be fun watching the dogs run around the yard when you take them out there. Do they like to chase balls or do they have other favourite toys?

We have a big fat lazy cat that lives inside. She plays for about 10 seconds and then decides that is enough.

Regarding the tension you are feeling in your chest, neck and shoulders, the physio will be able to offer you some stretches for that. You may find some gentle stretches on the internet as well. Even shoulder shrugs and rolling the shoulders helps me.

Once again, don't be concerned about the negativity, we all have it.

Cheers for now from Mrs. D.

Hi ladies,

I am 41 and have many symptoms, sensations... I have recently been diagnosed with Anxiety/ mild depression.... but leading up to this diagnosis I had many symptoms, changes going on. I have just opened this thread in the hope of some advice of any other women out there that may have had similar symptoms/sensations or are able to tell me their stories.

I stopped the pill 11 months ago, since then my monthlys only last 3 days. My breasts are constantly sorer. I get period pains 1-2 weeks before my actual period. I get light headed, palpitations, mood swings, bloated, lower back pain, chest, neck, shoulder pain. I am a mystery... least I feel I am.

I was told by one Dr that I was oestrogen dominant, another Dr told me I wasn't.....

anyway, very confused. I look forward to hearing from any other ladies my age to see if they have similar things going o.

Hi Busybee,

Welcome to the forums.

I'm not a doctor so just take this as my opinion only. I believe that if you've recently been diagnosed with anxiety/depression and are taking medication, these could be side effects. It takes some time to the body to get used to the medication, and sometimes you have to try with different meds until you find the right one for you.

Are you seeing a psychiatrist and are you on meds? He will be able to talk to you about the side effects.

Hope this helps!

Hi Candombera,

Thank you for your reply.

I am not on any medications. I am doing the wellbeing course thru 'Mind spot clinic', and I speak to a therapist there.

I am only on supplements as my Dr told me my Zinc and Vit D were low.

I take magnesium, zinc, Ostelin (Vit D), Curcumin, and Dan shen ( chinese herbal for palpitations).

Hi Busybee,

Thanks for clarifying. I've never heard of that course. Is it good?

So not too sure about what should be causing these symptoms... hard to believe the supplements or herbs have anything to do with it.

Have you tried consulting another doctor?

Hi and welcome,

i am perimenopausal and had similar issues. My estrogen was high when I had my hair, ones checked. I was experiencing what you are then this year I didn't get a period for about 6 months. Hot flushes were constant, anxiety up, feeling not so great. All of a sudden my hot flushes stopped and I felt premenstrual, then About 3 weeks later I get my period. I am taking vitamin b complex, c, d and fish oil. You should look into vitex and Macca root powder.

you are not alone.

Busybee - is it worth going back on the pill and seeing if the symptoms settle? For women under 50, hormone imbalances are frequently treated by being put on the pill. If it settles the symptoms then it's likely hormonal, if it doesn't, then it's likely anxiety.

Just as a curiosity, did the doctor test your thyroid hormone?

I would prefer to stay off the pill now, as almost a year since stopped it. I do feel my symptoms are worse though since being off it..

I have had my thyroid tested. The hospital said I did have some antibodies there that may suggest thyroid disease further down the track. I will be getting it re tested in a cpl weeks.

Thanks for getting back to us Busybee.

May I ask why you are not keen to restart the pill? How long were you on it for?

Are you being treated for any other health problems? Have you had any other investigations?

If it is perimenapause, it can be a frustrating time. Do you remember if you got any of these symptoms before you went on the pill? Perhaps these symptoms are your "normal"?

I hope things settle down for you soon.

Hi Busybee,

Welcome to the community here. My body has not been able to tolerate the pill in any strength. The symptoms you mentioned are ones I experienced every month plus migraines and leg pain.

I'm certainly no expert at all either, I am just thinking your hormones are confused, you are maybe in the perimenopause stage and your body is trying to work out what to do next. You have already been recommended lots of different things to take. My Drs. always said to take "Evening Primrose Oil" capsules. Ask your Dr about those if you like.

Exercise, a healthy diet and all those kinds of things help as did heat bags. I'm now 53, am done with periods but still have the hot flushes.

Our bodies go through quite a few changes over the years, some women breeze through them, others have a few speed bumps to get over along the way!

When our hormones are out of balance that can affect our moods, depression and anxiety as well. I too have thyroid issues, medication helps that.

For me it was helpful to realise the cycle my body was going through and deal with it the best way I could. I would also warn my husband when I was have a rotten hormone day, you know, one of those days when you want to blow up the world! Ha. Ha.

Cheers from Dools

Hi BusyBee

I am 46 and experience all of the symptoms that you've listed. If you are active on Facebook, there is a really supportive group in there called "Happy Hormones". There are around 70,000 members and everyone helps each other with menopause and women related matters.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post links in here but if you search for happy Hormones, you will see the group appear and you will have to request to join as it is private. Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks Dools,

I appreciate any advice. I feel so confused as one Dr told me I was oestrogen dominant and that I would have to get a cream online, as she can't prescribe it. Compounding chemists can make it. It is called progester all cream. Bit hard when you can't get a script.....

Ps... a lot of this is not of late, just telling my story from recent months to now.

Anyhow, I ended up going to another gp, this one did blood tests and she said my hormone levels were fine. ...

My body seems to be telling me I am far from fine lol

I worked out tonight, my period is 16 days late. Has never been this late ever. I have had clear jelly discharge also. My breasts are so sore, as is my back. I am head achey and dizzy _ off balance, especially in the afternoon.

Anyway, I will go to gp again and request another hormone check.

Thanks for the advice on evening primrose oil.

Take care, I will keep you posted.

Hi Abyss,

I was on the pill for 25 years. I stopped it, as I was feeling off before I stopped it. The gp advised me to come off it as May help me feel better. It hasn't really.

I just don't want to go back on it now. I am hoping my body will be sorted out soon. I don't want any synthetic hormones in my system again.

If I am to get help there, natural hormones will be the way I go.

I have been checked by...

CT angiogram, 24 hrs holter monitor, echocardiogram, all for palpitations.

All clear.. 🙂

Thyroid ultrasound and blood tests. All normal

Brain ct

Chest xrays, breast ultrasound mammogram

All that has come back negative was, zinc and vit d. So I take supplements for them.

So I have been for so many checks... I seriously put it down to my hormones. No one knows our own bodies like ourselves hey.

I am reading louise hays "You can heal your life" book.

Has a lot of affirmations, makes your ways of dealing with day to day a lot easier.

I tell myself each day that I love me, and it is going to be a great day.

Hope all well for you, and I will keep you posted.

Hi nic,

Thanks for your post. I aren't on Facebook. The page you mentioned sounds great though.

So far all the replies in here to my thread has been helpful, reassuring.

Nice to know, even though I feel like I am not myself, I am not alone.

It is so hard to explain to another... Well a male, especially lol

Us girls get what each other is on about.

Sometimes I wish we could be like Samantha from bewitched, wiggle our noses and point to a male, and transform them into us for an hour or so on a bad day, just so they can feel exactly what it is like to feel the way we do.

Anyway, you may all think I am crazy, I aren't, just good to have a laugh, even if it is at myself.

Take care and I will stay in touch with progress.

Hi Busybee,

My body too has similar reactions to the ones you have written about. A return trip to the Dr would be beneficial. Like many things in life, I guess we don't openly talk about issues such as female health or even mental health issues in general conversations so we have no idea what other people are experiencing.

I'm wondering if the pill worked in such a way that it discounted all of these issues you are now experiencing or if you have reached "that time in life" when these things happen naturally.

I find the more I research my issues, the more I understand them and cope with them. Once you have a better understanding of what is happening in your body, hopefully you will be able to handle your depression and anxiety.

Not knowing what is happening can make our minds race a million miles and hour. I too like humour to defuse issues. You have a bit of discharge (which can be very normal), you think it is abnormal, your mind then catastrophises the whole situation to a point where you think you will die right now or you have an alien inside your body!

Neither of those scenarios are true. Our minds create stories. Listen to what your mind is telling you and try to find any truth in there, not always an easy thing to do.

Hope some of this helps!

Cheers to you from Mrs. D.

Hi Busybee,

I just had another thought, are you close to a library? If so you could request help to find books on menopause and women's issues and may also find some helpful books on dealing with anxiety and depression. I'm frequently borrowing all kinds of books from the library.

Cheers again!

Hi Mrs d

yes I am a member of a library. Thinking that will be a good idea. I did borrow some awhile back, but best get some more I think.

I did go to gp this arvo, had another blood test to check hormones and thyroid.

My back and neck ct came back with wear and tear. A bulging disc lower back, bone spurs.in neck area. Very painful. Has been for ages.

I will be having some physio.next week.

I just nred to take better care of myself. I feel lost, but surely I will get better.

Thanks heaps. 🙂

Hi Busybee,

Unfortunately as time progresses our bodies don't do the same thing, they start to break down> Some us do that quicker than others!

My whole back is a bit of a mess. I highly recommend you go to a physio. Some of them have exercise classes or can show you exercises to do at home. The library will have many exercise books as well. You could seek out some Pilates books maybe. I run the exercises past my physio or Dr. first to make sure they are suitable.

Massage also helps me, and at present I am trying some more acupuncture.

When you see the physio, ask about the best options for sleeping positions as well. That can make4 a huge difference, also how you sit during the day and the amount of walking you do during the week.

Another thing I have learnt over the years is to try hard not to live your days controlled by all your diagnosis. Regarding your back, find ways to control the pain issues, discover the exercises that help you, build up your core strength, but try not to wake up each morning thinking about your bad back and the limitations it presents. Think of the positive things you can still do. It helps immensely.

Cheers to you from Mrs. D.

Cheers Mrs d,

Your replies are most appreciated.

I will be having physio Friday week. The gp has a care plan for me. I get 3 visits, as my pain is chronic.

Tonight it is very sore.

I am my own worst enemy, as I haven't been exercising. My husband goes crook at me for that reason. I tend to keep my health problems with my back quiet at home, as I am a tad guilty for nor helping myself more.

I recently had 3 sessions of acupuncture. This was before I knew the ct scan results.

I have some stretching books, and bbreathing excersises. I will ask the physio next week for sure on best sleeping positions.

I try to lay on back of late, if need to sleep on my side I put a pillow between knees to help with spines curve.

I get my hormone and thyroid blood test results tomorrow arvo which will be interesting.

I am now 18 days over due, my breasts feel ever so tender, almost a bruised sensation all over...

Very off balance tonight too.

My ringing in the ears is still here, the doc said it is tinnitus. I have a referral to have a special test done, $168.00. I can't afford that.... Will have to put up with theyou constant ringing a bit longer.

sorry to go on, but can't really talk to anyone at home about my issues. 😞

Hoping you are doing well Mrs d.

I am trying to have positive thoughts with my pain and everything.

BB. 🙂
