I have found very low dosages of some anti depressants very helful with sleep.

On the down side there has been some next day lethargy.

You need to check it out with a GP.

Hi Unknownperson

Welcome to the forums and good on you for posting too!

Sleep problems are always a pain. I understand and remember when I was in the same boat

Im not sure if you have an existing disorder or not that you have been treated for but sleep issues are often as a result of overthinking and having way too much on our mind.

Having a tired mind can sometimes result in racing thoughts which do effect sleep

Without knowing why you can sleep its hard to offer any advice but here are a couple of tips for you

Turn off mobile phones at least 1 hour before bed as they only stimulate brain activity which is bad news

Same goes for tablets/ipads too. They can prevent you from falling asleep and having quality rest too

TV is okay but any heavy duty movies can also cause overthinking

Eating too late is another culprit that can result in poor quality or broken sleep

If you wish to provide any extra detail we may be able to help you more effectively

my kind thoughts for you

Paul

Hi Unknownperson,

Thanks for your post.

Sorry to hear that you've been having trouble sleeping; I've had insomnia in the past and I know it can be very frustrating and draining.

You mentioned that you've seen Doctors and Psychologists in the past; what sort of things have they tried?

Being able to find a way to get some sleep is harder than it sounds; so even though you'd find a lot of advice online you've got to find what works for you.

In order to find out what might help it would be nice to get a better picture of you and your sleep routine; are you working or studying at the moment? When do you go to bed? When do you go to sleep (if at all)? What's the pattern like - are you awake laying in bed or trying to switch off?
