Hi throwaway;

Welcome to Beyond Blue and thank you so much for coming here and providing your post.

Firstly, I think an allergy to alcohol is not a bad thing - too many of us do the evil drink and wish we could get off it. I know it's a bit of a crutch for us to "help self medicate", but honestly, in the long run, you're going to be so much better off by not drinking. Just think - every morning how "well" you feel when you get up - a lot of us possibly cannot say the same thing. Even though at present, I'm on a little dry out period in the lead up to Christmas. 7 days and counting.

Do you work? Just something to ask to see if that is one thing to help you get through each day - oh and that you're able to work and bring home money.

Daydreaming about girls is not a strange thing - I for one do that also. It might be an inbuilt male trait - who knows? Hey, maybe the female folk do it as well??

It is good to hear that you've got a group of friends and you go out - and you say you've got looks that aren't so flash - and yet, you go out with friends and from your post appear to have plenty of interactions and you know what? Yes, people's appearance is generally what is noticed first; BUT, it's what is inside that person that is the most important. That is not cliche either. You could be the best looking person in the room, but if you're an a-hole, it doesn't take long for people to find out and then they steer clear of that person. The inner person is the key to friendships and relationships.

I don't know if I steered you in any direction there, but it was just a few thoughts that I wanted to pass on. I would also really like to hear back from you.

Kind regards

Neil

It's bad enough having a naturally ugly face, but I also have an allergy to alcohol. Drinking is such a strong part of Australian culture, and I can't drink. When I'm alone I'm always dreaming about a relationship with the unrealistic dream girl inside my own head. I used to only think about this when I was alone or on public transport, but now sometimes I catch myself daydreaming when I'm with a group of friends. Every time reality comes crashing down and I remember my appearance. And I think about the interactions I make with people all the time. And the past and the present and the future, I can't stop thinking about it. Hypothetical conversations with others, with myself, with therapists, self diagnosis... It's like a really dark Charlie Kaufman movie where my only relief is sleep. I would sleep all the time if I could. I'm 23.
Sorry for the lack of proper formatting, just sort of threw it all together...

If someone could point me in the right direction it'd be appreciated. Thanks.
