topic anger and resentment in Depression

Hi Samlamb

Welcome to B.B. and I hope by coming here you will receive some great responses … this is a really caring community and I hope that by being on here, might help you, even if it’s just a little bit. I do though wish that you didn’t have to come here and that you were in better health (mentally).

My personal view on Facebook and other things like that is quite negative. While I guess it is a good way to communicate … I think, actually I shouldn’t say too much about it, because I simply don’t know anything about it at all. I don’t have one and don’t ever plan to have one. I’ve heard that it can have detrimental effects for people who have our type of illness. Sure happy photos are nice to see, or are they? Other peoples? Nah, I don’t agree … if they were yours, then yes, great. But other peoples? Who gives a rats! My advice on this would be to either terminate Facebook or at least get off it for some time.

You’re 22 and you say you’ve had depression your whole life … that’s quite a load that you’re having to carry. Have you had professional help? Ie: gone to see your GP and had a mental health plan done for you? Do you have a psyche who you’re seeing and are you on medication?

I’m sorry, I’m just throwing questions towards you, as I had little to go on with your initial message. It is very good to read that you’re trying to seek help … that is a very good and positive sign. It usually gets to the stage where you feel like you’ve exhausted all the things you can think of and then you reach a tipping point and reach out to try to find other methods of help. So well done on doing this.

Ps: lots of friends I think is highly over-rated concept … people might seem or say that they have lots of friends (and in some instances, they may do), but for other people, I feel they’re probably making up the numbers to try and give themselves a boost that they’re perhaps lacking. Who knows … that’s me being judgemental and maybe I shouldn’t have written that ps: but I’m now too lazy to delete it.

Please do get back to us Samlamb and we’ll see if we can’t work this through together and get you some alternative help.

Cheers

I feel so resentful and jealous of people who have lots of friends and who seem to be out socialising and happy and bubbly, whilst at the moment I don't really have any friends or anyone who thinks I'm fun to be around...
I spend so long on facebook looking at everyone's happy photos and how popular and loved they are and i just compare that to me and feel worse and **** about myself but I don't know how to stop or how to make it better

I've had depression my whole life and I am 22 years old and don't know what to do anymore. I feel like I've tried everything
