topic How do you eat when food makes you feel sick? in Anxiety

Normally I love food, but when I have bad anxiety even the smell of food makes me feel severely nauseous. All food, even healthy food. Last time I had a serious anxiety episode I only ate every three days, and by "ate" I mean half a sushi roll or a bite of lasagna.

Does anyone have any tips on how to eat properly (even at all would be good) when highly anxious? I've tried mainly eating salads because it doesn't have much of a smell but I don't even really want to eat those.

Oh and I also work in a kitchen 😞

Hello snake

welcome to the forum, I am guessing that quite a few people on here will have their own tales of food and depression that they will share with you.

I know what you are feeling - I once lost far too much weight because of no appetite for food. Not good for us. My appetite for food remains erratic. So what do I do?

I make sure I have simple foods readily available, muesli bars, fruit, nuts, and ....., lots of sweet things. I figure something is better than nothing. And when I am home feeling not the best bad I tend to calm myself by nibbling.

As an aside, when I work in the kitchen (I like cooking), the last thing I want to do is eat. Odd eh?

take care

K

I feel exactly the same way especially in the mornings. I wake up with anxiety every morning but know I need to eat something eventually so I wait until mid morning then just have a muesli bar. Just something small enough so I can take my medication. Its a horrible feeling I know 😞
