Hello Andrew1972, I am so sorry for the loss of your sister and husband. Grief will knock us for six at the best of times let alone when we lose loved ones in such a distressing way. Of course it will take you time to adjust to life again, and I don't mean to sound depressing when I say this, but you are right when you say you have 'never been the same'. It isn't the same when someone close dies, it will be different. That doesn't mean that you will never get back to a place where you can enjoy life again.

You are doing all the right hings, you are seeking help, you are talking about what has happened, and you are acknowledging that you want to move on. That is a big big step.

I am sorry that you have lost interest in your hobbies. I find this is one of the more upsetting things about depression, when I lose interest in things that I am normally passionate about and keep me going in life. Sometimes I have found that, temporarily even, it can help to just accept that that interest is not there and see what other things, new things, that you might be drawn towards. Different little things you can look forward to each day, each week, as you build yourself up again and start a new life. I hiope this helps.

Hi Andrew, sorry for your loss, I am being challenged with issues at present, however, not the loss of loved ones. Many years ago I read a book relating to anxiety and panic attacks which has given me the confidence in facing and controlling these times which I would like to share with you and hope it may assist in same small way with what I can only imagine you are going through.

in a nutshell, as the emotion/anxiety/panic comes on, encourage it, don't fight it, tell it to come on, give me more, is that all you got, I can take more than that, give your best shot.

I found using this technic for this challenge effective, if you choose to use, I hope it is helpful for you as well.

one step at a time.

all the best and take ccare regards MDM

dear Andrew, my god, how can I say it but I am so profoundly sorry for a situation like this to have happened.

We do have a few very strong people here and when I say strong I mean that their participation on responding to all the others is daily, but deep down they are suffering so deeply and that they are finding it so hard to overcome their devastation, and now you have unfortunately joined them.

I do mean this with so much empathy for you and of course our great friends here, where they too have relapses, and struggle like hell through this long journey that just sticks to their mind and never seems to be able dislodge this most terrible ordeal.

I want to thank you for joining this forum, and I can understand your loss of all your hobbies, where some people can continue on with them, whereas others like myself had no interest in them at all, because the pain is too great, and although I didn't have to face the loss of any family member, it was very difficult, but this makes your position and all the others much more difficult.

PTSD is so hard to overcome and I would think that your generalised anxiety goes much deeper than this, as a depression is the key here and leads the way for everything.

I hope that you can stay with us. Geoff.
