Todd

I can offer you my opinion.

Alcohol acts as a temporary relaxant. I used alcohol to make myself relax and happy - it gave me relief from my constant thoughts and anxieties. But because it is a depressant, the long term effect was to exarcebate my existing anxiety and depression.

So what to do? If you have not already, go and talk to your GP, who may prescribe medication or recommend other remedies to address your anxiety. Then reduce your alcohol intake because it really does not mix well with alcohol.
