Hi there,

This does not happen to me but I am sorry you are experiencing this! Have you seen a doctor about this? I think that would be a good place to start.

I hope things improve,

Jaz xx

As I stress all day and have panic attacks and think to myself, am I going to sleep tonight?

As I am about to go to sleep I have either palpations or spasms. Does this happen or is happening to anyone else?

Hi, welcome

The best thing to do with sleeping issues is to see your GP and ask him/her if you can have a sleep study done. Once done then several potential issues can be removed from the list of possibles.

I had two sleep studies done 1/ 2003 and 2/ 2009. First one showed mild sleep apnoea and the 2nd one showed moderate. So it was time for a CPAP which for those not aware is basically an air pump that ensures you dont stop breathing which is why you feel tired even after such a long sleep because the quality of sleep is poor. Good sleep is essential for those with mental heath issues, especially mood swings like bipolar.

https://forums.beyondblue.org.au/t5/staying-well/a-good-nights-deep-sleep-sleep-apnea-and-cpap/m-p/326799#M30195

You other issue is anxiety. It can be cured in most cases but takes a persistent approach.

https://forums.beyondblue.org.au/t5/anxiety/anxiety-how-l-eliminated-it/td-p/183873

Other things are- deep breathing, mindfullness and other methods that can be discussed more with your GP like group therapy.

Make no mistake- anxiety is a serious illness often leading to depression. Prevention is better than cure.

TonyWK

Hi Tony,

I haven't fallen asleep when his happens. I feel the anxiety starting from my tummy and working it's way up. I am 49 and have been battling depression since I was 18.

I had gotten worse ever since the lock downs from covid .
