Hi all,

I have been prescribed anti-depressant medication today. I have taken 1 this morning and I feel nauseous and a bit panicky as I have anxiety. Is anyone else experiencing this with medication?

Welcome to the forums!

It might be normal to have some side effects when you first start taking a new medication as your body needs some time to adjust. It has been a week now, have you continued feel nauseous and panicky? The best person to talk to if these side effects are persisting is your doctor. They will be able to give you the best advice.

Hi Janet66,

The most common side effects of antidepressant include:

Headache.
Nausea.
Dry mouth.
Insomnia.
Dizziness.
Diarrhea or constipation.
Sexual problems.
Fatigue.

So I don't think you should worry too much, just give yourself a bit more time to adapt. But when you think it's still abnormal after a period, you might need to catch up with your doctor to see if the treatment need to be adjusted.
