so a few days ago I started having like random, impulsive tics, I guess? it started with a head jerk, then I started saying 'ha', and now I've started saying 'wow' often. they don't happen when im focused on something like watching tv or on my phone. is this an anxiety thing? does anyone else have these?

Hi whaleshark,

Thank you for sharing such a personal post of your current medical standing.

I'd really recommend going to see a health professional, what you describe sounds more neurological than anxiety or mental health related.

Do you think you could give your GP a call tomorrow and make an appointment?

Let us know of any updates and how you go.

Regards,

D

anxiety tics?

I have anxiety motor ticks where I stare blankly all the time. Like over 50 times a day. I had an epilepsy test called an EEG and the doctors realised it was motor anxiety tics. As Doz86 has said, speak to your GP so they can figure out what may be causing these tics as it could be anxiety or something else. 💖

Hey whaleshark, welcome.

I'm sorry to hear you, and also Mudcakes, experience these tics, etc.

Like Doz86 said, I would suggest seeing a GP and discussing these issues with them. I hope they go away for you and Mudcakes, if possible.

Sorry I can't assist further, I care though.

Anxiety is weird and (not)wonderful 🙂

There is a thread here where you'll find a vast array of physical manifestations.

https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/anxiety/what-physical-feelings-of-anxiety-do-you-get-/page/17#qykHoXHzvGGEbv8AAOnT_A

I haven't read it all, so I'm not sure if there's tics on there. But I've experienced them, along with many other different bodily things over the years. Like other members have stated - always good to get medical advice though. I currently have a finger tap. It started maybe a year ago. I used to tap my ex and drive him mad. If he wasn't around I'd tap my arm (well, now he's not around lol). Someone else I know has a pronounced blink.

But yeah, if you're concerned, best to get checked 🙂 Katy
