I always feel like there is an emotional hole within me.

I try to distract myself but nothing seemingly works.

I've been advised that I would have to learn to live with it, but honestly I am struggling with it.

Sometimes I feel I'm wasting every second of life and need to do better at 'living'.

Hello stingingb33...

A very warm and caring welcome to the forums..

Distraction isn’t as easy as it seems...It took me a while How to learn to distract myself...

I am a very emotional person...at home that’s okay I don’t mind...I can light my candles put some music on and even sing along with it at times....Then when I’m out somewhere in public it becomes harder to distract myself...I have a couple of Grounding boxes/packets that I’ve made up and have one in my bag and one in my care....You can read up on Grounding...in our “Grounding What is it and how do we” thread...search it top right of this page...

We probably do have to live with it..and need to learn different techniques to helps us manage it...My psych helps me learn different ways...Do you have any professional people who are helping you?...If not is it something you could talk to your Dr. about..in getting a mental health care plans put in place for you...

Do you work at all or Volunteer....I volunteer one day a week in a charity shop which gives me a feeling of helping others out...

Which emotions are you struggling with..only if you want to share...there’s no pressure at all here...

Its nice to meet you and hoping to hear back from you when you up to it..

My kindest and most caring thoughts, stinging33..

Grandy..

Thank you Grandy,
And thanks for sharing the Grounding thread.

The emotions are a strong yearning to have experiences with people who are gone now.
Being around them had a sense of stability and security, but time and responsibilities being what they are...
I know that the experience can't be brought back, but my emotions can't accept it.

I am seeing a psychiatrist, but it's more about being on medication than anything.

I have attempted to volunteer for a few places.
The applications are progressing but patience isn't being one of my virtues now.

Thanks again.

Hi stingingb33..

I can relate to the yearning of wanting to be and experience different things with people are now gone...

I lost my husband 7 years ago..although he was narcissistic...I still miss the security of having someone around...I now live alone...

We moved away from the city 8 years ago..his choice..I left behind a couple of friends and we lost contact..which is sad..

Its hard to accept, when we loose any of our family or friends...and unfortunately we can’t turn back the hands of time....and have to try to move forward the best we can...which is difficult at times...Do you have any new people in your life..new friends that you feel safe and secure around..that you could make new experiences with..and new memories with?..

Well done in applying for volunteer work...I hope that goes well for well...

If your Dr can get you a mental health care plan..you receive 10 free appointments with a professional Counsellor..that you could maybe talk through your feeling and the emotions your going through...Yes most psychiatrists usually diagnose and prescribe meds only...which it’s good your seeing one...

Thank you for getting back to me..

Kind thoughts dear stingingb33...Talk here anytime your up to it...

Grandy..
