Hi Callie and welcome to the forums and making your first post.Living alone for the first time is really a hard thing to come to terms with at first.I know it was such a weird feeling and having a completely different life.I think one of the main things was getting into a routine during the day.I use to go for a walk every morning when I woke up.I had a dog and was really good company.Do you have any pets?Do you have friends and family you keep in contact with that you can ring and visit?
Take care,
Mark.

Dear Vallie,

Welcome to the forums. Living alone can be a scary thought at first, but like everything else, you will get used to it after a while. It's a learning journey and while you wouldn't start out knowing what works for you, you will over time.

I remember when I first moved out over a decade ago, I didn't know what to do either. What helped was to make a list of things I felt I needed to do, even the little things like planning my grocery shopping and cleaning routines. That helped me slowly get into the swing of living alone.

As for socials, I didn't worry to much about that at first. Once I started figuring myself out in my new space, I started going out more and meeting friends.

The first few weeks will always be a little strange and unfamiliar, but hang in there, you'll be fine.

Kindly,
M

You can actually cope with it, but it takes time. There are reasons why people are afraid of being alone. My first experience of living alone is funny actually. I rent in a hotel to stay in 3days and It's dark at that time when I checked in. I keep thinking weird thoughts because It was my first time being alone in my life. I keep looking at the walls, ceiling, randomly checking my phone even though there's nothing to do, and when I start relaxing and I forced myself to think that I need to sleep and after that, I close my eyes forcibly and hug my pillow for a minute and that time I didn't realize that I am already sleeping. And when I woke up, I did a dead-stare at the ceiling and I was feeling like I am adapting to the strange and unfamiliarity of the place. The progress is slow so It takes time.
