Any elses AD meds cause Light Sensitivity?

Been on AD meds for about 3 weeks now and about a week ago I developed a horrible feeling towards lights. I cant go under them or near them they make me feel nausious, weak legged and seem to increase anxiety? Anyone else had this? Did it pass? I really want to stay on my meds but this photophobia side effect is a pain. Any input?

This is a good question for your Dr. Is it possible for you to make an appointment to see your Dr or another one to discuss this?

The chemist where you purchased the medication may be able to offer some ideas as well. I always ask them to print out information sheets when receiving new medications.

Unfortunately, some medications can have different side effects in a different people.

I have not come over that particular issue, but have experienced different situations I have been to the Dr to discuss.

Hope you can gain some clarity!

I just recalled years ago, I came across a friend who needed to wear sunglasses under lights all the time, I don't know why though. Is that a possibility for you until you get this sorted?

Hi and thanks for your reply.

I asked both the pharmacist and doctor and they could not say for sure. All I know is I have never in my life had issues with lights or shopping malls or even lights in my house. After being on the AD meds for 2 weeks I gradually noticed my intollerence to them each day. I feel its the meds. Google have lots of answers which I dislike looking for but they did say Photophobia light sensitivity is a common side effect. So I just wanted to hear from anyone else who experienced this. Was your friend on ADs? Yes I do wear sunglasses and it does assist and I can even detect my eyes change as soon as im under or near lights. Its particularly worse at night and in shopping grocery malls. Seems to be something of a vision and vestibular side effect. My legs even go funny, like a tight and jelly like feeling. Never experienced it in my life ever so I feel its the meds. The really sad part is the meds are making me feel good but this side effect isn't. Yesterday it gave me a one sided headache (like a migraine type).

Hi again,

My friend had this issue many years ago and no I am not sure if they were on any medication at all. I do recall as a group we all wore our sunglasses at night when with this friend. We were in our early 20's then so I guess people just thought we were a little weird.

I have been told there are ADs that are from the same family. Can you discuss with your Dr if another medication may suit you better? I know it is a hassle stopping and swapping, it might be worth it in the end.

As people can have so many varying experiences with medication, Drs might not know all of the possible side effects.

Sorry I can't offer any other advice or suggestions. Hopefully someone else here might have experienced something similar!

Hello AnotherOne, thank you for posting on the forums, I understand your sensitivity to light, as I've experienced the same and my specialist mentioned that usually occurred when I started taking my AD's and also when I was experiencing ongoing stress in my life.

There are other people on the forums that also experience light sensitivity as well and it always seems to be during periods of ongoing life stress and sometimes poor quality sleep too.

It's only my humble opinion through my own life experience that our GP or counsellor can provide us with the best quality support available, as Dr. Google has way too many conflicting scenarios that don't help us as effectively.

Hi Geoff. Can you recall if walking under lights in your house made you feel strange? Or when you walked into a shopping mall grocery store thats all lit up?
