      <title>Anxiety after drinking</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi,&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I’ve been feeling really low and embarrassed after too many drinks on NYE. I was having a great time but then had too many and got emotional and then sick. My friends looked after me and took me home which was very much appreciated.  &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I feel so horrible to have ended everyone night like that. My friends say it was ok and they didn’t mind but it doesn’t take away the guilt or embarrassment. There are also parts I don’t remember which makes me feel even worse. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I know these feelings will slowly go away but I have been feeling so low about it all. There is nothing I can do to change what has happened but how do I get out of the self pity pit.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;Thank you for your post, and welcome again to our forums!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Honestly, if you were one of my friends, I wouldn't even dwell on it too much. This kind of night is also not too unusual for an event like NYE, and particularly as it's followed by a public holiday (for most people), you have time to recover and reflect. I also doubt your friends would be dwelling on it either. &lt;SPAN style="font-size: inherit;"&gt;Most people have had an embarrassing night or two before, so you're definitely not the first person to experience this, and certainly will not be the last. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="font-size: inherit;"&gt;As a side note, your friends sound very respectful and supportive, and they seem like people you'd be able to confide in (provided you feel comfortable doing so) if you're still feeling low/guilty/embarrassed about that night. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;As much as you may be feeling low for a few days, I would encourage you to take it in your stride as an event to learn from, or maybe even to laugh about later on down the track when you're feeling better. &lt;/P&gt;

had, I embarrassed myself, being sick on myself, trying to dance with someone
...most of my sibs had their own embarrassing times too. &lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG style="font-size: inherit; color: #333333; background-color: #ffffff;"&gt;At the age I was I didn't have a clue how alcohol might
effect me. Didn't understand how to take it slowly, (if at all), nothing.&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG style="font-size: inherit; color: #333333; background-color: #ffffff;"&gt;But, indeed I did learn from it, from seeing what
happened to others, too, &amp;amp; not too much later, I barely even thought about
it. No one talked about these things more than a few days.&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG style="font-size: inherit; color: #333333; background-color: #ffffff;"&gt;&amp;amp; I sort of grin, squirm a little with how
embarrassing it was, but I understand the episode so much more now. &amp;amp; it's
okay.&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG style="font-size: inherit; color: #333333; background-color: #ffffff;"&gt;I'm sure you can feel better about it soon, too.&lt;BR /&gt;
So you will know better, if you choose to drink again,
there are a few things you can do.&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG style="font-size: inherit; color: #333333; background-color: #ffffff;"&gt;1. Eat before you begin drinking.&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG style="font-size: inherit; color: #333333; background-color: #ffffff;"&gt;2. Alternate  alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic
drinks.&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG style="font-size: inherit; color: #333333; background-color: #ffffff;"&gt;3. Space out your alcoholic drinks. One per  hour, I
think I've heard.&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG style="font-size: inherit; color: #333333; background-color: #ffffff;"&gt;All the best for 2022.&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Im sorry you are feeling this way.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I understand sometimes we feel embarrassed at times and guilty.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;To try to get your self out of the self pity pit I suggest that every time your brain brings up these thoughts try not to give them your full attention…… instead focus on something else in the present moment……. What we give attention to we give power to.&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hello GraceyJ, you have been supported by those above me, just as I will.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If your friends didn't care about you then they wouldn't have taken you home, and if they had been drinking, there would be parts of the night they would have forgotten about, and as soon as someone mentions something, they will remember and the same may apply to you.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If you ended the night, your friends may have been grateful, they may not have been enjoying themselves anyway and as soon as someone makes a comment and laughs then you laugh as well.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Don't worry about what you don't remember, just go when the enjoyment arises.&lt;/P&gt;
