Hi Tasguy,

Sorry to read you are having issues with the new medication. Have you been able to talk to your Dra bout how you are feeling?

Sometimes the pharmacist at the chemist can help explain the side effects of medications as well, if you can't get in to see your Dr straight away, this might be an option.

It has been my experience that some medications do have side effects that can hang around for a few days or longer then sort themselves out.

A chat with your Dr sounds like a good option.

All the best, cheers from Dools

Hi Tasguy,

Sounds like this particular side effect is quite uncomfortable for you. Was the Dr able to suggest anything that may relieve this condition?

I'm not a medical person at all, just wondering if you take the medication with food or with milk if that might help? Is it a reflux type issue you are experiencing or more just a pain?

It can be concerning thinking you may be having heart issues. I presume the Dr has explained this is some kind of unwanted side effect?

Apart from the side effects, do you feel as though the new medication is having an effect on you mentally?

Wish I had some answers for you. From what I have read from others and my own experiences, medication can be okay for some people and cause side effects in others.

Hope this situation settles down for you soon!

Cheers for now from Dools

My biggest problem is not been able to work I've used up all all holidays and sick leave. I will have to force myself to go to work which adds extra stress

Hi Tasguy,

Sorry to read you are still struggling so much! Is your Dr able to give you something to help with the added anxiety, even if it is temporary?

Good thing you went tot the hospital to have everything checked out. Has that helped in some way to know you are medically okay?

Is there someone you can talk to at work regarding how you are feeling? Some work places (apparently) are understanding of mental health issues.

Are there some techniques or strategies you could use to help you through the day when you do return to work? Some deep breathing perhaps or counting backwards from 100 in multiples of 3, or singing a song in your head to distract your thoughts.

I know it is not always easy to implement these things! If it was there would be no need to mental health services!

Some days can be tough! I really do hope you are feeling a little better soon!

Cheers from Dools

Hi dools just an update my anxiety has lessened so that's good. My doc gave me benzos but last time I had it when I got off the couch I felt light headed. I've booked a appointment with a cardiologist for an echocardiogram hopefully that will put my mind at ease. This is my 3rd week on my ads gradually increasing the dose so they say it takes about 4 weeks to notice real difference

Hi Tasguy,

That is excellent news that your anxiety is reducing. If it happens to spike again in the future, hopefully you will be able to recall this moment in time and believe the anxiety will pass once again if it shows up.

Hopefully your tests will go well and help to alleviate any concerns you have about your heart. It can certainly pay to have these tests done to be sure of what may be happening.

Just a suggestion, when you get up off the couch, do it slowly and stand for a couple of seconds in one place before you dash off. It might help. My Dr suggested this to me when I had a few issues.

Besides your meds, do you other strategies, activities, distractions or ideas that help with your mental health situation?

All the best, cheers for now from Dools

Hi dools it was a down day today more chest pains went to the doctor's who said she didn't believe it was cardiac related feel a bit better tonight. I'm wondering if I upped my ad doses to far because I felt better last week. I would up it anymore for at least two weeks to let the side affects calm down. I have a mindfulness cd my physcogist gave me I enjoy that.

Hi Tasguy,

Hopefully you feel a bit more settled now you have had a chat with the Dr about your heart. Did you discuss how you should proceed with your medication?

It can take a while for our bodies to get used to the medication.

I've tried Mindfulness, I have a little trouble sitting still long enough to actually do it justice! A couple of times I have tried it while resting on the bed and have fallen asleep.

Do you have any hobbies or interests that keep you busy or that you enjoy?

One of my favourite places is the beach, or anywhere with water really. I find it calms me.

Hope you feel okay tomorrow!

Cheers from Dools

Hi Tasguy,

I know what you mean! I've also been introduced to a new medication after an onset of depression with my existing anxiety which is a Tetracyclic antidepressant. Whilst my anxiety hasn't been overly effected, the physical symptoms have been very uncomfortable. I'm only on day 4 of taking it, but wanting to stick it out as I'm hoping this medication will help.

Good luck with your journey!

Hi Jojo82,

I wish you well with your journey as well. Medication does help, there are also many other strategies and ideas you can use to help yourself as well.

Some Drs recommend a healthy diet, exercise, time in the sun, doing positive activities, keeping in touch with people and working on positivity help.

I do realise there are some days when these things just don't seem to be viable or don't work so well. That is when I tell myself I can accept today for what it is and try again tomorrow!

Cheers to you from Dools
