topic Feeling faint, dizzy, etc in Anxiety

I can relate to this almost exactly.

Whenever I'm feeling really anxious, I sometimes feel faint or low in energy, and all I can do is focus on my thoughts and everything outside of my thoughts becomes irrelevant. I made a post a few days ago describing my 'dream-like state' where I talked about this in detail. Pretty much it feels like everything around me isn't real and I'm not actually there, and I too notice that it can be very intense and then stop, or linger for hours, etc.
The first time I experienced this feeling was actually on my 20th Birthday and is what made me register to these forums. The entire day on my 20th I literally could not for the life of me get out of my own head. I couldn't eat because I had no appetite, I couldn't enjoy myself at all because I was in my own head the entire time, all around it was beyond miserable, especially because it was my birthday.

This feeling is super unsettling for me because when I'm in this state I notice that I'm very careless because I'm not really paying attention to anything outside of my thoughts. I haven't really found any strategies or anything to mitigate this feeling, but the worst of it passed within 2 days and now I only feel it from time to time.
I found that this feeling always accompanies anxiety, so in theory, if you were to treat your anxiety in general, this feeling would go away too.

A few things you can google are 'derealization' and 'depersonalization' to see if either of those fit what you're feeling. What I experience is more akin to 'derealization'.

I hope any of this helps 🙂

Hello,
I have been having troubles with feeling faint, dizzy and
sometimes my eyesight is affected. In addition to this, I also get this feeling
that I can’t quite describe whereby I can’t focus on what’s going on around me,
almost as though I am just consumed with what’s going on in my head that I am
not really in the present moment (sorry I realise this is confusing but I can’t
quite describe the feeling with words). These symptoms can be very intense one
minute and then subside shortly after or they can linger on for what feels like
hours.

I don't tend to feel this way at home but when I go out, especially if I am doing somethings that makes me anxious or just that I know could be an anxiety-inducing situation, I start to feel this way and it can be very intense. I also start to feel this way when I hear people just talking about it.

Does anyone else have troubles with these feelings?

Are there any strategies that people have to help mitigate
these feelings?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks😊

Hi 44Max44,

Thanks so much for your response! It's comforting to know that I am not alone.

I too have had times where the feeling of being consumed with everything within my own head has sucked the joy out of something that would otherwise be fun. It is quite a miserable feeling.

I am working hard not to let these feelings have so much control in my life as to stop me from doing things that I enjoy but that is a lot easier said than done. Hopefully, as I work to cope with my anxiety, I will be able to better manage these feelings.

I've never heard of those terms but will look into it.

Thanks again for your response.
