topic *Trigger warning* (Violence) Incident - Feeling Vulnerable in Anxiety

Dear All,

I just wanted to share a incident that took place yesterday, and I can’t stop replaying this in my mind.

In summary, I was in the bank yesterday having a chat with one of their staff, and suddenly out of no where there was a commotion with a male shouting and swearing, and the next thing I see is him storming over to his partner who automatically got onto her knees and into a ball position to protect herself. (This is the image that I can’t get out of my mind), and at this time fortunately the security team intervened.

I was and still am in shock and feel physically sick as I have never experienced anything like this before and it’s just breaking my heart.

I cant stop thinking about the female and her life, and how I can help her.

Hi fellow champ

I would have been left disturbed also regardless of my past working life as a warder and many security type occupations.

However, many years ago my therapist told me "Tony, you cannot save the world".

In such a situation the victim also has responsibilities toward herself which often victims don't carry out. Domestic violence can occur for decades within a marriage but still the victim remains with the perpetrator. No one can help until she or he decides to find freedom from abuse.

It's no different here. Our forum is great for readers and contains an extensive library in search. However specific problems readers have cannot be addressed until they ask this community for guidance.

Regards

TonyWK

My sympathy, Baljit

It is so difficult to see something going on & be unable to help.

In a situation like that, where someone attacks another in a public place, & there's security personnel who are able to intervene, surely, I would think the police would then be called? & then,, & there would be an excellent opportunity to seperate them, talk to the victim, & hopefully, get some help for them.

Even if all this happens, what is there for witnesses? 😺Of-course, you have us! Not everyone knows who they could call to talk through their experiences & feelings, though. It'll take other witnesses more time to find they may need to talk, & then find out who to talk to.

You, Baljit, like everyone here, is welcome to talk through whatever you need. We'll be here, listening & try to help you, too.

😻mmMekitty
