topic Accepting new job help in Anxiety

Hey Anita24,

Starting new jobs is so scary and it is never a fun experience.
My best advice would be to spend some time and think of something you LOVE.
Like something you have always wanted to do or something you are passionate about.
I know it still might seem scary but if you have the motivation that this is something you have always wanted to do then you should go for it.

The hardest thing is telling yourself you deserve it and that by doing this for you it will open up a whole new opportunity and I always find work a great place to actually keep me busy and get out of my own head.
The first few weeks might be rough but don't give up.

Just remember that you deserve happiness and success and you shouldn't let yourself get in the way of finding that for yourself.

Goodluck,
I really need some guidance here. I accepted a new job and I start in a few days but I feel sick to my stomach I don’t want to go. I’ve quit a lot of jobs. I think I go into flight or fight mode... everyone is telling me to give it a go but I don’t want to as I’ve been struggling mentally so badly lately. Can I get into trouble if I email them and take back my acceptance in so scared of repercussions. Please help.

Hi Anita24,

I'm sorry to hear you are having a difficult time lately and it must be a hard decision to make. Could you possibly see a GP to help you through it? If you are not feeling up to it I would either talk to them in person or over the phone. I'm sure they have had somebody turn down a job before and they would still have to act proffessionally, so i couldnt see you getting into any trouble. Your health is more important.

Hi, Anita24

Congratulations on your new job! Starting a new job can be very scary. My partner has social anxiety and is anxious on leaving his current job (hungry jacks for 4 years) for another job (that's better) despite my encouragement.

It's really up to you. Don't force yourself to do something you will get very very anxious about because that's not worth it. However, sometimes you do have to just "give it a go" like others have suggested. Perhaps that's the one for you.

Think about why you applied for the new job in the first place. Did you not like your previous workplace? Do you need more income?

Also, why have you quit a lot of jobs? It is you or them?

Before sending in the email, I suggest seeing a psychiatrist who may be able to help with your current situation.

I hope it works out and I look forward to hearing from you again xx

Thankyou everyone for your positive encouragement... I can’t call them as I’m someone who can’t handle direct conflict or being direct I’d have to email and *hide* and unfortunately I can’t see a psychiatrist before hand as I have one day to make a decision otherwise they will be in big trouble and they probably will be as it is if I tell them I can’t work. A lot of jobs I have left without notice. I’m worried it will be the same scenario here. I have a casual job that I’m doing ok with at the moment and handling and I’m worried I’ll end up with nothing if I take on this job.
