does anyone else suffer throat sensations due to anxiety? I have one particular spot deep in my throat that feels like lump that comes and goes, but what really scares me is some pinching pains I experienced, also ear ache and sensation in ear , just one side of the face, and sometimes aches in that one spot or burns in the throat . So ,I saw ENT who couldn’t see nothing , swan done nothing, now I got from different doctor referral for U/S .... of course I fear cancer!

I also suffer from a lump in the throat sensation when I am anxious. If it comes and goes, then it is unlikely cancer. Cancer grows bigger and bigger, so the lumpy sensation should be there all the time and get progressively worse if it was cancer. Since the ENT cleared you of any problems, you are fine. The U/S is probably to check if your thyroid gland is enlarged. It is more to give you a peace of mind, as a thyroid gland large enough to cause lumpy sensation is very noticeable. My mum had thyroid nodules that enlarged her thyroid gland by 4 times. Her neck was obviously swollen before she got it removed, but she never felt any lumpy sensation. So, it does sound like your lumpy sensation is anxiety-related. I know it sucks, but try not to worry too much!

all this is very much new to me and it scares me to death .... today I feel my whole throat is burning like on fire. And pinching sensation is almost gone ,just today! But like you mantioned I will do the U/S for peace of mind as evething I google is cancer... but ear sensation has been bothering me as well... exercising makes me feel better. Thanks again

Hi ,

I’m new to diagnosed anxiety but have probably had it forever ! I’ve always had strange feelings in my throat. Since the start of the year I’ve had this lump in throat feeling - have had done all the thyroid scans and all were clear. My thyroid is slightly elevated which doesn’t help the anxiety. I encourage you to talk about your feelings with a GP. Don’t let them manifest. They will help do all the medical checks to ease your mind and reassure you that you’ll be ok. ☺️

I turned from happiest person in the world to miserable one just can’t stop looking and assessing my throat 😢today Is burning sensation and I can’t count how many sore throats I had in the past and it didn’t bother me at all...

Hi,

I just wanted to tell you guys that yes I get a sore throat from anxiety. I had itching, burning, aching in my throat and ears. I was convinced I had throat cancer; thanks to doctor google. I went to an ENT and he looked down my throat with a camera and it was totally fine. And as i walked out of his surgery the symptoms vanished. I had them for months, and all of a sudden they were gone once I got the all clear. The mind is very powerful! You should see your doctor of course if these symptoms are bothering you, I’m just saying that yes i have experienced throat issues due to anxiety.

I have been feeling a burning sensation in my throat and on my tongue since Christmas, really concerned about catching covid and now my boyfriend (I don't live with) has covid and my throat is worse today and now my ears are effected.

I want to know how to relax to get rid of this pain as in 5 days I turn 40
