    <description>&lt;P&gt;Just looking for answers really...&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;For the past few months I have been having what has been described online as anxiety attacks.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I have the following symptoms:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Fear of every ache and pain.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Feel like I’m short of breath.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Tight chest.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Racing heart.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Everything seems to scare me for example I will feel a twinge in my arm and that will send my mind in to overdrive Next minute my heart is pounding then I think I’m breathing funny each thing making it worse.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I can’t seem to get out of my own head always thinking and I can’t seem to pinpoint anything that is making me feel this way.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Im constantly scared that I’m ill and I’m scared of hospitals and doctors I went and had an ECG on my heart which is fine but I’m petrified of needles so I don’t want a blood test.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Im basically on here to find out if this is anxiety and if other people are having these same feelings and if so if there’s anything I can do to stop it??&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;HI Smiffy and welcome to BB&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;well done on reaching out for support. you said your new to anxiety, so im wondering if something has happened recently to cause this anxiety?  a significant event maybe?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt; i would reccomend seeing your gp for some extra supports as they can reffer you to a psychologist to help you work through some things too, and talk about medication options if you choose. what your describing sounds abit like what i experience which is abit of health anxiety. theres quite a few threads here with others who experince it and tips as well. if you type in 'health anxiety' into the bb search bar some threads will pop up and youll be able to take a read and talk to others who too. &lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;ive heard magnesium is good for anxiety if your into natural type remedies. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt; &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;something i would suggest doing when you notice your anxiety creeping up is to take a few deep breaths. alot of us either hold our breaths making it worse or we start to hyperventilate. so take a few deep breaths and focus on that to start with. then maybe do some grounding- take note of what you can see, hear, smell to focus on the present moment. &lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;StartingNew (wave to you!!) has given you a lovely welcome and good advice about managing your anxiety. I don't really have much more to add really.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Just wanted to say that the Beyond Blue (BB) forums have people who are friendly, caring, supportive and respectful of privacy. We are willing to share our experiences of mental illness to help others. &lt;/P&gt;
