Hello A_2105

Welcome to the forums and good on you for posting!

I had the same anxiety when driving for years and it was a major pain. I understand how frustrating and scary this can be.

I was driving about 900klms/per week and even with all that exposure it didnt reduce until I started getting super regular counseling. It just my opinion but without treating the core of the problem (anxiety disorder) the driving issues can continue....unfortunately.

I was seeing a psychologist every six months thinking it would help but little was achieved until I switched to weekly counseling with a council based mental health care worker (who was free)

I still see my GP every 4 weeks for a fine tune which has been a huge help

May I ask you if are or been having some counseling for your anxiety?

The good news! Anxiety does reduce in severity with frequent therapy and meds if your GP suggests using them. Even though I wasnt suffering from Depression antidepressants were a great tool in also minimising the severity of the anxiety attacks in traffic too

Thanks for posting on the forums and if you have any questions or thoughts you are more than welcome to post as many times as you wish 🙂

My kind thoughts

Thanks for your response Paul 🙂

so the counseling helped quite abit? I might look into it as I haven’t had counseling before. Unfortunately I’ve tried quite a few different medications all seem to make me feel nauseous

Hi A_2105

No worries at all and thankyou for posting back too!

Anxiety/Panic attacks in traffic are just a caution flag that we are have too much on our plate or are harboring matters in our past that have caused us distress in some shape or form.

Th counseling was a gift...and the low dose antidepressants which helped me build a better foundation on which I could heal more effectively.

The severity of the anxiety attacks in traffic (or anywhere) will reduce significantly with ongoing counseling 🙂

Thankyou for being a part of the Beyond Blue forum family

You are not here....any thoughts or questions are more than welcome 🙂

Thanks heaps too for posting back

Paul
