Hi Patty and welcome to the BB forums.

Unfortunately anxiety can hit anytime for no reason even if life is going well. It does suck when it hits. I had finally gotten a job in my field and my anxiety started to flare up. What I suggest you do is go see your doctor and discuss your anxiety symptoms. They can refer you to a psychologist or therapist if you don't already see one. If you have a therapist and haven't seen them in a while I suggest going back to see them just for a chat and to see discuss your feeling. They can help you with strategies to deal with it.

I have GAD so I know first hand how horrible anxiety can be and how sucky it is for when it hits out again out of the blue. What I try do is manage it. I go back to see my therapist for a chat (I may only see them again for one session but I find it helps) and I try do self care. For me this includes reading a book, having a bath and doing meditation before bed (to stop my racing mind). It is something that can be managed and you can thrive with it. But you need to make sure you look after yourself.

I'm new here, am suffering anxiety and want to overcome this feeling. I am recently married and have just returned from our awesome honeymoon, so life should be great right? So why isn't it. All of a sudden I'm anxious about going back to work which I have been there for over a year, I feel anxious my husband has gone back to work (FIFO) which he has done since we met. I'm anxious about finances, and also many other things. Nothing bothered me before so why now? It's not a nice feeling at all.

Hi PattyB,

Firstly, welcome to the forums.

MsPurple has given great advice as per usual so please do take it on and I will just echo some of her advice as well. I too suffer from anxiety and have for around a decade. It really can hit out of no where or something can trigger it, either way it is not fun and very tough especially when the major symptom is an overthinking mind.

I was just thinking whilst reading your post that you just got married, I have heard of many newly weds get anxiety after getting married before, but I was thinking your case, did you move in together for the first time or have you lived together previously? Only reason I say this as your husband is FIFO, could be tough being on your own if you aren't used to it? I may be wrong but wanted to double check.

As MsPurple said, the best thing you can do to help yourself is going to see your local GP and explain what you are going through so you can speak to a psychologist. They helped me a lot with dealing with my anxiety so I really do recommend from personal experience.

Please feel free to post back as much as you like.

My best for you,

Jay

hello Patty, when you get married your life changes, you live together, have to pay rent/mortgage, cook, clean and the list goes on, and even though this may have happened before, it's a slightly different situation, because marriage seals your partnership, but when you're living together, it's not a final decision.
Your husband who works FIFO will change how you will be thinking, beforehand you could have gone back to mum's place, but now it seems to be a little more difficult, and finances, well do you decide to save for a house, because it's a joint decision, so life becomes different, now the two of you have to decide on everything.
It can be scary but try not to suffer by yourself, talk with your doctor and then a psychologist, as it's something that you will get used to, <G class="gr_ gr_8 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="8" data-gr-id="8">skype</G> your husband and ask him how he is feeling, he might feel the same way. Geoff.
