It may sound like a cliche, but in terms of self-worth, it doesn't matter what you do for a living that matters, it's who you are as a person. I'm sure you have learnt many skills and a fair bit of experience a long the way with your old job. Those things are never wasted. It's a matter of finding where to direct those next.

But don't worry about society. It's common for people to ignore or even mock things they don't understand. And mental health, unfortunately, is a big one. Often people simply don't know what to say. It doesn't make you any less of a person, it just means that they are ignorant.

hello and welcome to the forums.

I am just over 50 and trying a career change. Though still have feet in the old camp but as freelance vs ... It is daunting I will admit. And I do know of some other people of a similar age that were burnt out by jobs. When things went down for me, my parents suggested I just try to find a less stressful job until I was back on my feet.

What sort of work did you do? What are you passionate about? Sometimes if we can think outside of the box, other possibilities may present themselves.
