topic Panic Attack Hangover?? in Anxiety

Hi Hamlex,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry that you've had to deal with a panic attack; they are such awful experiences.

I was actually in the same boat last week; usually I'd use grounding exercises and breathing exercises but for some reason it just did not work. I was very worried that it would happen again; but instead I told myself that it just happened, like a one off occurrence. Next time the anxiety comes along - I'd try again. I feel like maybe this technique would work for you too. You know the techniques; now it's just about putting them into practice. It won't be always easy, but every time you do these techniques you get stronger and stronger at fighting this anxiety.

As for recovery - I prescribe lots of self-care. Maybe that means watching your favourite movie, or listening to music, or sleep. Maybe gaming is your thing - or going for a walk; anything that helps you feel a little bit more like you again.

Panic Attack Hangover??

Hi all!

I am new to the forum.

I thought I had panic attacks before but they all seem pretty mild compared to the horrible attack I had last night. My thoughts were so erratic. I was thinking about things that are so irrelevant to my life and stressing about them. I would think about one thing and then in the blink of an eye, think about something else. My mind was in overdrive. I tried breathing exercises and grounding methods but none of it seemed to work. I had medication and was able to sleep, although very restlessly.

Today I still feel a bit jumpy and "hungover". Any tips on dealing with this aftershock?

Thank you all!
