Hi Tony,

Whenever I get anxiety I do different things. I find distraction is the best. It seems hard at the start and it helps to create a new habit when the anxiety hits you.

I look up something complex on the Internet. And try to read and learn.

Another is calling a friend or family member and just chatting to them. It makes you listen to what they're saying.

It's hard to shake negativity. I know. I was persistent and shoved positivity down my throat until I change that habit. You can try this too. But I admit I'm hard on myself.

Goodles luck Tony

What strategies are you using to control your anxiety? Cognitive behavioural therapy? Mindfulness? Exercise? Do your symptoms ever go away when lost in a moment? There is an article somewhere on internet on how to deal wirh uncertainty. People like to be in 100% control. Especially anxious people. The gist of the article is, you havehad all the medical checks, you have been told its anxiety. Just go along with its just anxiety and ACCEPT you may be wrong, accept the possibility.Live like it is just anxiety. You have done all you can with the drs. Of course if your symptoms get WORSE or change- do go see a Doctor. But this is how u deal with uncertainty- make as much of it as you can certain, and the rest accept you may be wrong-but live as if you are right! I will try and find web link.

Hi Tony. Your psychologist advising you against any sort of meds seems a bit drastic under the circumstances. Perhaps a re-visit to the Dr for some relaxation meds might be a better idea. Have you tried deep, slow breathing, that often eases tension which is anxiety/stress. Ask the Dr for a blood pressure check. Tension or stress often elevates blood pressure, checking it would give the Dr an indication of your anxiety levels too. Do you have any hobbies that might help you relax?
