topic mood constantly changing in Anxiety

Hi joshbro. Hormonal changes happen all the time till we reach adulthood. At 16, we've often experienced first/second love which can be scary, painful. If we or our gf/bf decides to see someone else, it can really hurt and be confusing. Our bodies have sometimes matured before we're ready. Talking to mum and dad is difficult as we don't know what to ask/say. Is there a school counselor you could talk to about how you feel, what you want? Your Dr is also a great confidant as they can help you understand what's happening with your body. Headspace, kids helpline is also a great source of info for young adults.

Hey, I am a 16 year old maleSo everyday my mood has been changing constantly, multiple times each hour.1 minute i will feel happy and get a sudden burst of energy and then the next minute something little happens and makes me so angry that i want to explode.Sometimes i feel empty, emotionless and numb, no feeling at all and then I could be feeling anxious.Sometimes my thoughts travel at a million miles an hour and I can't understand them. This effects me in alot of different situations such as social situations sometimes I get very confident and I could take to anyone about anything, and other times I can barley get a word out of my mouthWhat is wrong with me 😞 other people i have spoken to dont have this problemThanks for reading :

Hi Josh

How is your life apart from this? Do you have many interests, such as sport, creative activities, friends etc. From what you explain it might be a lack of other things filling your mind and your life? How is the situation where you live? Do you feel loved, wanted, a part of the scene?

Why I ask these questions, is that when you are at a loss in other areas, it often manifests itself in varied moods, from excitement to anger. How is your health otherwise? Is it worth taking a vist to the doctor and have a general check-up and maybe having a word with him/her?

Hope these comments help. Keep posting as just doing this helps work out things in your head and attracts other input from people who have or are suffering similarly

Chin up..

Hi joshbro. I did reply earlier on another thread. It could be an hormonal problem with you. At 16 you are going to have some incredible things happen with leaving school, starting work etc. Some of it is exciting to look forward to, other things are scary. I think perhaps a chat with your Dr about how you're feeling with the numbness you describe. Also your feelings of emptiness, lacking emotion etc. Many boys don't know how to cope with hormone changes in their body. It is scary, exciting, fear of the unknown etc. Do you have plans for after school, maybe your plans are up in the air. Do you have a gf, perhaps that worries you, the lack of a gf in your life, if some of your friends have gf's. You have nothing wrong with you except the physical/emotional changes you are experiencing which, as I said, can be frightening if you were not aware of them. Guidance from your Dr will help ease your mind, plus help you understand more about your body. If it would help, you can phone our counselors here at BB, we are here to offer assistance, guidance, support etc. Kids helpline, headspace are also great support services.

Hi Joshbro,

Firstly, welcome to the forums.

I like to think that it would be related to hormones as Pipsy said above which it may very well be and the stresses of being 16 come along with it. There could be something underlying there, I would highly suggest speaking to your GP and seeing what they recommend, you have done the right thing by reaching out on these forums, it means you are ready to be helped so I would see your GP if you can, just for further advice, maybe talking to a psychologist might help, and please don't think it means your crazy or anything like that, just means you need some thing corrected in your mind which is very healthy long term.

My best for you,

Jay

Yep 🙂 welcome to young adulthood. Your hormones will be raging until your mid 20's. Congratulations on being human, this is where your parents self care and emotional regulation training comes into play. Start the habit of good self care now and you will be set for life. Goodluck 🙂
