I have the dealing with the neighbour from hell. There has been an ongoing battle for months between myself and the neighbour (mother and son). I feel as though they are purposefully attacking me (not physically but mentally/emotionally). Admittedly I left my bins out on the street so that I could secure a parking spot however as there is an easement that separates my house and the neighbour (of which they have ownership) that I am not able to use it to access my driveway without their permission hence the need to park my car on the street. They have contacted not only the council ranger but involved the police about this issue and also falsely accused me of putting excrements on the mothers car. Since they were not able to get that to stick, they have contacted the council ranger, once again, but this time to complain about well established trees (at least 17yo) in the front of my house which does not encroach on their property. At times I feel as though my symptoms/feelings are brushed aside by friends and family. Even the council ranger said that he's (the son) got in for you. Am I reading too much into it? Is it all in my head that he's got it in for me?

Hi Feeling

Thanks for posting and Welcome too!

From what you have posted there does seem to be an issue and albeit minor they can usually end up like yours

This would 'bug' me if I was in your shoes "I am not able to use it to access my driveway without their permission hence the need to park my car on the street" (due to the easement)

Just a question if I may.....Do the mother and son work for a living? Also....have they ever let you park in the driveway?

Excuse the questions....just trying to see the nuts & bolts 🙂

my best

hello F B, I'm not sure which State you live in, but in Queensland and Victoria have dispute resolution programs run by the Department of Justice that can deal with disputes between <G class="gr_ gr_6 gr-alert gr_spell gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling multiReplace" id="6" data-gr-id="6">neighbours</G>, while in New South Wales, help can be sought through a Community Justice Centre.
The other way is to get an AVO against them where they aren't allowed to verbally abuse you or even talk to you, but contact your police station and see if this is possible. Geoff.

Hello blondguy,

The mother works part time and the son "works" but only with 3 rentals under his belt hence having lots of down time to research and make my life hell. They have allowed access in the past however since the son and I have exchanged words, it's been a nightmare to deal with them ever since.

I thought there was light at the end of the tunnel when I saw the auction sign. Sadly there was no interest in their property and the auction was cancelled. The house is now for sale however I have a distinct feeling they will be holding out for quite some time unless they're willing to drop their sell price.

Hello Geoff,

I live in NSW and have sought information to that affect but they would have to be willing to participate in mediation which I am quite confident they are not. I was hoping that their house would sell but the auction was cancelled.

I have considered the police route but never thought about an AVO. I will have to look into it further.
