Hi Jack. You've got me thinking so thanks for that. When the rest of my family have gastro bugs they don't panic so maybe I need to figure out what is triggering that panic because one of the thinks that happens is that I feel desperate to see my mother in this state and actually calm down a lot if i see her, which frees me up to focus on the throwing up! A bit nuts when you consider I am in my mid 40 ' s! Time to get past this!

I woke up this morning feeling nauseous. I have strong resources for coping with anxiety and depression but when I am nauseous I spin into total panic mode and cannot access any of my coping systems. I just wondered if anyone has this problem or has any idea what is happening. It's like my brain disengages completely and runs away to hide! I feel hysterical which doesn't help when you are throwing up and when you have young children around !

Hi thidmed,

I wonder, have you ever had a bad experience that might be behind this? I have had a few experiences where I have had problems breathing when actually vomiting and that has made me a bit wary! Or perhaps it is because you feel that nausea is something that you cannot control?

I'm not sure mate, are you seeing a professional that you can ask?

Sounds like you are on to something there thidmed. Perhaps you did desire to have your mum with you in those moments as a child and those desires were met. Now your mum is not there and something is triggered, a separation, anxiety...

Know that your mum is always with you wherever you are, look into your heart and she will be there with the help and answers you need.

Have you tried any anti nausea tablets?
