Hi,

I'm 23 years old , I'm currently a uni student and work part time . I'm just curious if anyone else experiences what I do and is it classed as anxiety or normal ? Start of every week I plan my whole week in advance to what I'll do every day and in what Oder to do tasks. And when it comes to the crunch and things don't go the way I planned it to , I feel this sense of stress , I can feel my heart beating fast and experience sweaty hands. And I'm a constant over thinker, I constantly stress about things when there is nothing to stress about , what have you guys found that help with this ? I haven't seen a doctor about this yet but I realise it may be a issue that may get worse with time .

Hello Lex92

Welcome to the Beyond Blue Community

It would be uncomfortable to have the heart pounding and the sweaty palms. I have had anxiety for many years and just my humble opinion Lex , your symptoms can be 'tagged' stress or mild anxiety. The adrenaline is pumping a bit much in the heart can race and as well as sweaty palms. The overthinking is also a common trait with many people and even some basic counselling would help you find a way to arrest the mind racing which in turn will lower any stress levels

It may or may not exacerbate but like you mentioned it may be good idea to see your GP. It actually may make you feel a bit better by having a vent too.

It would be great if you could post back whenever you wish. Thankyou for posting too 🙂

Kind Thoughts

Hi Lex and Moon

Overthinking is generally an form of thinking that can also be 'internalizing' or 'thinking' the worst is going to happen when there is nothing to worry/think about in the first place.

Another by-product from over-thinking is called catastrophising about things in our lives....being overly concerned about events that haven't even happened yet...

The slower your brain works the slower you 'think'....In English...the slower and more peaceful your thoughts are the less anxiety you will experience..

Good question Moon!...always great to see you..:-)

Hey Lex

Writing it out can be a mega help, you are spot on.How are those pesky anxiety symptoms going?

Moon...sometimes over thinking or catastrophising can be helped by a regular commitment to counselling. I also use AD's to take the bad lows out so then my oping mechanisms have better results. I wasted a few years trying to learn natural therapies until I started the meds.

Paul....today I have to have a difficult (for me) conversation re not partaking in something I vehemently dislike, don't enjoy, in fact hate and dread....which a person close to me absolutely loves and enjoys.

i should have spoken up yesterday during the activity but was too scared...I have been practising what to say all night..getting myself in knots...then imagining their response, what they will say back, how they will feel, if it will escalate into a nasty argument...needless to say my sleep last night was terrible. My anxiety is thru the roof now - I am terrified of displeasing others (as some other threads will show by my posts).......

is what I described a sort of "over thinking" on my part?....thanks...
