Hi.

31yr old dad with a son who's nearly 2 1/2. Had depression and anxiety for most of my teenage years and my adult life. I just wanted to post because I am going through a rough trot of anxiety atm and have one in my life I feel that I can actually talk about my anxiety with 😞

My wife is absolutely amazing and supportive of my anxiety but I hate burdening her with how I am going because it puts pressure on her when she is already working and studying full time and does so much for our son.

Tbh I just wish people with anxiety were able to go to meetings like A.A. people and have an actual place to speak or someone their for them to get support from..

for those who read this thank you for letting me rant 🙂

Hi Hi,

I'm sorry you're suffering and it's great you've come here to reach out, welcome to the forums. There actually are meetings for people with chronic anxiety and depression. I live in Sydney and did an internship in one. We're technically not allowed to post links on the forums but have a google of anxiety and depression treatment groups and some should come up if you're in an urban area.

First time chatting

Hi there,

I understand how you feel. I believe when a person has an anxiety disorder, guilt can be a major driver in the condition. Especially when your partner/spouse is supportive and helpful because this just makes the guilt, anxiety and depression worse. My husband once said to me if I didn't have the anxiety component to my personality then I wouldn't be me in other ways either (meaning the good). I try to think of this when I feel guilty for all I believe I've put him through. Also remember you're seeing things through anxiety goggles so you probably haven't even been the burden you think you are. Because we ( anxiety sufferers)are usually super sensitive, we always think we are hurting those we love, often though I think this is all in our heads. You are obviously a good person if you care enough about your family to be worried about your perceived burden on them. 😊
