Thanks Phillip, I agree about seeing a psychologist. I've been seeing one courtesy of my work(I love my employer) but only for limited sessions. I may think about seeing someone long term. Thanks again for the advice.

Hi all! Took me quite a while but I've finally dragged myself to say hi to you all. I'm suffering from anxiety for the last 5 months now but the problems may have started earlier than that. It's just that this time the anxiety decided to stay and set up shop in my head. I was a mess until my doctor put me on a 6 month prescription antidepressant. It's been good since, able to sleep coz insomnia was a big problem when my anxiety strikes. Now I can sleep peacefully most nights because of the antidepressant . Still gets relapses every now and then but never as bad as when I first had it 5 months ago. I have one month to go with the antidepressants but not sure what would happen after that. I may have to take up another prescription for another 6 months, see how I go first.

anyway thanks for listening to my rant, sure to talk to everyone individually soon. See ya

Hi Amino, welcome to beyond blue forums

Well it is refreshing to get a post from a member that is doing all the right things. And dont be afraid if and when your doctor prescribes a long period of medication. Short term fixes are rare.

But either way things are improving. You are sleeping better and thats important for recovery.

Yes, what white knight said. Even if you feel better, remember it's the medication 🙂 and think of the amazing sleep it gives you ^.^ don't be afraid, it's obviously working.

ps - I love my medication

Its great that the medication is helping you but it might help to also seek some councelling to try to gain some understanding of the causes of your anxiety. The psychological factors that underpin your anxiety if identified can be treated - Perhaps you could ask your GP for a referral to see a councellor.......Best of luck. Philip.

Hi Tony

Thanks for the kind words, yes I'm doing really well now but I hope to when I finish my current prescription that I wouldn't need to get another one from the doctor. If I do I wouldn't mind another one coz the meds actually keeps me focused in my everyday lives and I'm not as short tempered as I was before it. Fingers crossed.

Be seeing you.
