I am now 35 years old I thought that life would be easier now that my children are getting older. My children are the reason I haven't lost myself fully. I love them so much and will always be here for them. For some reason everything has become so intense that I have anxiety 24/7, I always feel like my chest is on fire, I don't sleep well and my body is always in pain. The way I deal with my anxiety is by overeating but clearly that's not helping me either. I don't know what to do I am consumed by anxiety.

Hi Nessa,

i know exactly how you feel, have you been to a doctor to try medication or maybe they can refer you to someone that you can talk to.

Are you a single Mother or do you have a partner.

The less sleep that you get the worse it makes you feel so you need to try doing something relaxing before going to sleep, I have started to read a book and find I sleep much better.

Hey Nessa. Just read ur message and it does sound like u have bad anxiety. Do you know when this started or an event or something may have triggered it? Have u been to see ur local GP or if not go to the "get support" section of this site and it will help u find a doctor who can help you. Medication often can help some but not others but its worth giving it a go. Just go see your doctor and have a chat to him/her and go from there. They may do a mental health care plan which can link you up with seeing a psychologist who can help you with your anxiety without medication and help you relax. You need to sleep your top priority and try and relax in the evenings. Please keep us updated on your progress. Take care x

No doubt you are very busy with your children. It's been a couple of days since your initial post, so I just wanted to check in with you. Did you decide to speak with your GP?

Sorry Nessa - my cat pressed the post reply button!!

As I was saying mums are often fulfilling the demands of children and don't always find the opportunity to put themselves first. This anxiety though is telling you that you need to put yourself first. I hope you will seek some extra support.

I also hope we will hear back from you.

@ Condar, I am married and have been for 6 years. My husband and I just this weekend discovered that we have something in common. Bonsai Trees, so he took me out and we purchased some and it's something we will be working on together and hopefully it will become relaxing enough for me to have a good sleep. I am currently in the process of choosing a Doctor that really listens listens to me. I believe that what I have is PMDD

Pre Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder.

@AGrace

Morning! Just I am always so busy especially now that the girls will be starting school again in about a week. I have heard many times that I should pay attention to myself and I really am trying. I joined a gym and try to at least make it once a week. I get invited to events and in January I decided that I would go places I have been invited to. I honestly feel that I have a really GREAT 2 weeks and then the next 2 weeks are horrible and it's like this every single month. I feel like I can do it all and then I have the two weeks where I rather not leave my house. I really feel I have PMDD I have felt this way for several years and I am in search for a Doctor who will really listen to my symptoms and not try to tell me something else. I will keep you updated and thanks for replying!

Hi Nessa,

Have you tried any of the Dr's listed on Beyondblue's website? They all specialise in mental health, and I'm sure they would listen to you. You may even find that the GP is just useful for writing a referral and mental health care plan so that you can see a Psychologist. It may be worthwhile exploring some good Psychologists instead - perhaps one that specialises in women's issues.

Are you using the pill to try to keep your hormone levels more stable?
