Hey there,

I have a few favourite sounds and I can’t decide which one is my favourite. I love the sound of rain (it was raining today and it’s so nice and cozy hearing it outside!). I also love the sound of a piano (I’m biased because I do play piano and really love it). Just music in general is an amazing sound, although I guess it depends on the type of music haha. And of course laughter, it’s the best medicine!

Hi everyone,

Two years ago I went to an exhibition and got to hear my most favourite sound in person.

The T-Rex from Jurassic Park was roaring right in front of me and not through a tv screen as it has for countless years. I don’t know why this sound makes me so happy but it does and always has. Ever since I was a child. Maybe because this is the only place I can hear that specific sound being made. The T-Rex roar is iconic to me.

Some people may like the sound of cracking the tab on a soda can, a kookaburra laughing, a light saber swirling or a race car drifting.

Do you have a favourite sound and why?

Interested in hearing your answers,

Doors24 (Nice to meet you.)

Dear Doors24~

I guess I'd have to say it is the sound of the midnight train coming though out small rural town. There are the bells at the crossing preceded by three hoots from the engine and the seemingly endless rumble/clack of the wagons filled with ore pass though.

It is quite distant and not intrusive, it seems to combine the ideas of stability in this life (it is the midnight train) together with a reminder the world is much larger than just our small town and my experiences.

Croix

Hi Doors 24

Id have to say the uncontrolled laughter of a baby to something simple as playing peekaboo. The genuine joy in that innocent little laugh

Mum52

Hello Dear Doors24,

I have some wind chimes hanging on my front veranda, I like the sounds they make when a gentle breeze passes through them…at night I leave my bedroom window open and many times I’ve dropped off to sleep with the gentle and calming music* they make…

Kind thoughts..

Grandy.,

What a great idea! I love all the sounds mentioned so far. Doors24, I've just thought how the T-Rex roaring is a very satisfying sound to think of when feeling disempowered and needing to take your power back. I'll just imagine I'm a T-Rex roaring the next time I feel like that!

A favourite sound of mine I thought of is a bit eccentric. It's the sound that the older iMacs made when you put something in the trash can. It made a very satisfying scrunchy noise, like paper being scrunched up. When I got a new iMac about 3 years ago I was disappointed to find it now makes a thud instead of the scrunchy noise. I much prefer the scrunch 😆

Dear Eagle Ray,

The T-Rex is definitely iconic and pretty much undefeated in all the movies. So be undefeated too.👍

I love all the nostalgic sounds from technology over the years. And do quite like when they bring them back. I never had an iMac, but I always wanted the ones that were really colourful in the late 90’s. The big clunky screen with the see through colour backs to them. An orange one would be my choice.

I do remember the scrunchy noise.

Doors24
