Hey All

With everyone reading more at this time I am really really interested to know what their recommendations are. While there is a thread I can see that people are letting others know what they are reading currently, I would LOVE to know:

WHAT IS YOUR TOP 5 OF ALL TIME....

I have some that make the list to date, it looks like this so far:

The Bronze Horseman - Paullina Simmons

The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini

The Book Thief - Markus Zusak

My Place - Sally Morgan

To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee

I am looking for a new read and I love to read things that come highly recommended....so please, what is yours?

Big reader here, but we all like different things. I'm currently more in comfort mode which means lighter SF/Fantasy & not too dark detective novels. Example authors - Seanan McGuire, Martha Wells, Lois McMaster Bujold, Laura Penny, Dorothy Sayers, Rex Stout, Ovidia Yu, Sulari Gentill

A top 5, which might vary daily, could be:
Jane Eyre -Charlotte Bronte
Persuasion - Jane Austen
Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkein
Cloud Atlas - David Mitchell
Persepolis – Marjane Satrapi

I recently read the highly acclaimed Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, by Gail Honeyman, which I thought was brilliant, but I do NOT recommend it unless you are feeling mentally very strong.

Thank you Al_KB

I am going to have a look at some of those, however I too have not long ago read Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and ADORED it....what an amazing story, I am reluctant to talk about it on an open forum so I don't want to be a spoiler but I loved it to the core, it took me on a journey of so many emotions...wow..what a book!

Thank you again for your list....

Those are so different! Northanger Abbey is quite funny; a spoof on the gothic horror stories that were the rage at the time. It's like a bit in one of Umberto Eco's books where everyone is trying to decrypt the mysterious coded message of no doubt deep significance, and then it turns out to be a laundry list.

Persuasion is more serious, though there are still some funny bits. It's the one that resonates with me most; the heroine's awful family is so relatable for me.
