Yes, I confess, besides being a golfer, I’m also a cricket tragic.

I blame my Dad for this, always having the radio broadcast on when I was a child - I used to think how boring is this (those were Test Matches back in the day). Then I discovered that Women’s Cricket existed, and started playing, then I got hooked.

I watched during those awful times when we got smashed by everyone, in particular the West Indies and their fearsome quicks.

I rejoiced when Alan Border put a bit of backbone into the Aussies. Then we went on a bit of a golden run, with some fabulous players.

Now, here we are in 2017, women are being paid well to play, and our Male teams are an “interesting” collection of characters.

Have it away with your thoughts and comments, if the spirit moves you 😆

First Test at the Gabba, looks like the Aussies are going to smash it, thanks to yet another creative Steve Smith innings. Mind you, bit disappointed in the pitch that was presented 😞

Nah not fussed but thought I'd drop by Maths, so you're a cricket tragic aye, how'd ya go playing, good to hear chooks are getting paid well and to see them being telecast (that the word for TV?) and golf nah not fussed either lol

I will say though about cricket first, the TV coverage on it is brilliant, so many facts, the graphics, little arrows on screen showing stuff etc, talking about history, I think probs the best of all sports but God knows there's enough time between balls to bake a cake or two 😄 😄 😄

OH btw GO THE KIWIS, even if they're not playing atm, that's for anytime they do something (Y) had to throw that in

Golf, looks lovely & peaceful, greens are beautiful, both very popular

Women’s game is great, looking forward to the Big Bash, which is soon.

Golf, well this weekend was a challenge because the Aussie Open was on at the same time, very enjoyable to watch. Great to see a young fella win it, particularly a talented lad who went back to play at his home town club (in the country), and busted a wrist bone when he tried to hit through a tree root ouch!

Meanwhile, back to The Ashes - Australia’s batsmen went on a romp this morning for an hour, made the runs, didn’t lose any wickets. Poms are in trouble if they can’t solve a few problems ......

Next Test Match starts in Adelaide on Saturday 🙂

Well, Adelaide Test Match a real cracker. Captains making decisions all over the place, public and experts disagreeing, nearly 200,000 attended the game - everything was happening.

And the Aussies won early on the 5th day in dramatic fashion - couldn’t ask for more really 🙂

We (the Aussies) are 2-0 up in a 5 test series. It’s onwards to Perth and the very best of British luck to the Poms on winning that one 😝

Hey DB - can withstand your Kiwi ranting, doubt that your cricket team can do the same 😂

So, 2 days into the Perth Test, and England manage to lose 6/35 - as a Grandstand commentator noted - they got the momentum and had their foot on the Aussie’s throats, and then didn’t know what to do.

Really, going from 4/368 to all out 403 - unbelievable!

Mind you, I do feel that Stuart Broad ought to join BB Forums. He unfortunately got hit in the grill of his helmet in 2015. - the ball got through the gap between grill and peak, broke his nose, and made a mess of his mental state. He’s admitted to having nightmares, and his batting indicates that he is fighting some demons - PTSD? I feel for him, tough situation when the eyes of the cricketing world are watching, and you’re scared to death, of being hit. Criticism from one of the ABC commentators, not warranted.

So, Australia is batting, Warner and Bancroft semi failed, Ussie made a few, Steve Smith is looking like a double century is on the cards, the WACA pitch is the home ground for the Marsh brothers = lotsa runs?

Could end up a draw, the weather is not looking great for Sunday night/Monday morning. We’ll see 🙂

Hi Topstocks,

According to the weather people, it could start raining Sunday night and into Monday morning - leaving maybe 2 sessions on Monday. I guess a draw is probably the likely outcome.

Unless, the Aussies can really motor in the first session tomorrow - we’re already 146 in front - if they can make that say 300 and declare at lunch, or perhaps just after, giving them 2 sessions tomorrow at the Brits - that might work. At least that would put the Brist in the position of having to save a loss/bat for a draw.

Can’t wait to see what transpires.

Smith and Marsh were awesome today!

I joined BB as I am supporting my 20 year old son through tough times.

Ive been reading out your cricket thread to him this morning and he’s loving it. He is a golfer / soccer tragic but since moving here 4 years ago the cricket has taken hold !

keep them coming. He went to the T20 last night - loved it.

We’re now into the 50 over matches and the Brits are an entirely different team, as are we. We’ve been thrashed in 2 games of 5 game series .....

Good on them ,they’re playing really well and we’ve been horrible!

Seriously, Finchy has made consecutive centuries, so what’s wrong with the rest of the team??????

My dad could listen to a cricket match underwater if he could as he was always a huge fan may he RIP

Your first post is great value as there is only one female driver in the 'V8 Supercar Championship' rounds and good on her too 🙂 It takes a super fit person with quicker reflexes than a cricketer to drive a 1400kg vehicle around a circuit for the hours they do.

Just gently popping in to annoy (huh hymmm looking for delete button) mention QUIETLY 🙂 that Oz & Kiwis are playing and unless I hear it around I've no idea how we're going against youse.

So hopefully someone updates here so I can skite (oops where has that delete button gone (embarrassed emoji) umm mention & of course supply the hankies ..sshhh...thinking to herself hope I don't need the hankies

Mil (mother in law) saw some of a game and we were behind ouch, but she didn't see the finish...oh oh bit scared now
