Renaming the Community Board and expanding the cafe

Hi everyone,

Since the opening of the Cafe thread earlier in the year, this whole section has really come to life as a place to socialise and get away from the heavier topics around living with anxiety and depression.

Given that 'Community Board' is a bland name for a section, how would you all feel about the Community Board section being renamed to BB Cafe?

That does leave the question of what to do with the original cafe thread, but I'm sure you will have ideas around this too.

What do you think?

Hi Chris,

How about renaming it to the BB Social Club? Within the social club you then have the various threads for games, cafe, poetry, blurovision etc. which are social club subgroups or events.

Oooohhh Carol! I like that! I've already told Chris I like the idea of expanding the cafe to encompass the whole board, but that does leave the problem of whether we need to change the cafe's name. BB Social Club is excellent! It creates the feeling of fun and relaxed conversation we want, also a feeling of belonging to something, and as a heading it holds the promise of diverse and interesting things underneath. Well done you!

I agree with the above. BB Social Club would be a great name.

Will any of the current threads be renamed? Not that I can think of any different names or reasons but I am throwing out the question.

Great idea with re-naming Community Board as The BB Cafe Chris....not as 'bland' as you say..

The BB Cafe could be tagged 'The Chillout Lounge'...It has more of a lay back feel to it 🙂

The title "Community Board" was probably a fantastic name for when it was first instigated.

Sounds A little like a place name you might find on a Monopoly Board.

It will be very interesting to see how the renaming of this section will affect the threads that are posted here.

The BB Café has certainly taken off, so it does show well and truly that people are looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to go and just chill out.

Excellent idea Chris to change the name. The old name has done well, now for something different.

Hi Everbody, Like Will.i.am and many others the BB Social Club is a good idea. However....When
I joined i was very depressed and if a person doesnt have the courage to post a thread they need a place to say hello. I just think that the name gives the impression that its for 'people already on BB' and doesnt
encourage new posters/sufferers to jump in

If a person is in pain or like many have 'social anxiety' 'The BB Chillout Lounge' sounds more warm and fuzzy, and Rob gets to keep his fort:-)

I know I am in the minority but its only my humble suggestion

Good point! I hadn't thought of it from that angle. I can well imagine some people might not feel comfortable joining in if they feel excluded for some reason.

The BB Chill out Lounge does sound more inviting and welcoming.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

I understand that the word "club" has an intimidating, or exclusive feel for some people. I hope everyone reading realises that all are welcome here.

How about "Social Zone"? It sounds like the most straightforward description of what this section does. It is a place (zone) for socialising.
