Hi Roberty_Bob (great name!) Welcome to the forum.

I just wanted to mention that there are a few members who have trouble sleeping and they often gather in the BB Cafe of a nighttime. Lovely bunch, and I know they would make you welcome if you want to join them sometime.

Oh, and it doesn't have to be at night. The cafe is open 24/7 and you can get any kind of food or drink you want there, we have a large screen TV, swimming pool, a tree house, beautiful gardens, a stream, assorted pets, quiet corners with comfy sofas for chilling out alone, and tables and chairs for sitting in a group. And lots of good company. Check it out under this board (Community).

I hope to get to know you.

Cheers

I was introduced to this story last week by a colleague in another group. She was providing me emotional support during some particularly traumatic child contact issues. It is a children's book first published in 1922. It is about a toy rabbit that comes alive due to the love of a child. It is all about being genuine. It rang true with me and made me cry. The take home message for me is to believe in yourself.

This will really sound useless at 4:12am...Find the most boring movie you can.....put it on...and use a couch..not a chair...I would be surprised if you can stay awake more than 20 minutes....

Sorry about the silly idea...Just thought Id mention it...

I hope you are on tomorrow Rob....I will be on here roundabout midday....

Hi Roberty-Bob,

I was first introduced to The Velveteen Rabbit when I was preparing to marry. My celebrant had a quote from it along with other passages people often have for weddings. I loved it so much. I didn't choose it for my wedding because I knew it would make me cry but I read the book and loved it.

There is even a Golden Book version for kids. I bought this for mine as it's never to early, to quote Paul, to be kind to yourself.

"Once you become Real you can't become unreal again. It lasts for always".

Hope to see you in the BB Cafe some time.

Cheers, Carol

Roberty-Bob that sounds wonderful...I have book envy.

My home is full of books I have 3 large walls over 2 rooms lined with bookcases and books. My 3 children also have a lot of books in their rooms and each bedside table has a pile of books in progress.

I also have a kindle that I read my bookclub books on. However I always buy a "real" version of ones I love or any by my favourite authors.

Do you have a favourite author?

Cheers, Carol

Hi Roberty_Bob

Thanks so much for jogging my memory of 'The Velveteen Rabbit'. It's such a beautiful story - when the boy's love makes the rabbit real. That book together with 'The Little Prince' were my favourite books from childhood; both copies long gone - so I re-ordered both yesterday.

For anyone who likes children's books that are beautifully written and have a message for both children and adults, I can highly recommend 'The Velveteen Rabbit' and 'The Little Prince'.

(To Blondguy-you probably will shed a tear, but in a good way).

Best wishes to you Robert_Bob. I've read your thread a few times and your story provides many of us with hope to persevere.

Take care

Hi Mary,

I'm back on the forums after a break. Shortly after I posted on this thread I had a "crash" which put me in hospital for a while and it took some time for recovery. I waited a little while to come back onto the forums and started (slowly) this week.

Thank you for your very thoughtful post from last year and I'm so sorry I didn't get the chance to respond. I really hope all is OK with you and I hope to bump into you soon. I really enjoyed our contact on the forums.

Once again, hello Ladyhawke, it's great to hear from you again.

Sorry you have had such a rough time and very pleased you are back again. Are you going to start a thread of your own or simply join in the conversations on different threads? Either way it will be good to catchup with you again.

My news is not so good. Picked up a virus of some sort which showed itself as intense pains in various bits of me. That's one theory from my doctor. The other is from my psychiatrist that the pain is the result of stress, in particular a huge event just about about a week before I started getting theses aches. And the third theory is a mixture of both. Both ring true for me so I am going with the third theory. Thankfully my blood test is showing the inflammation level decreasing and I can stop taking the more major pain killers. That's good because they were making me fuzzy.

It really is lovely to welcome back old friends.
