Hi Jayno and welcome to the forums. Congratulations on being sober, that would've been a bit of a struggle with everything else happening in your life. What are your long term plans for after uni? I suppose it'll be a bit of relaxation after uni. I have a friend with a 19 year old daughter who is in her second year (I think), she has her moments. Are you on meds to control the bipolar, concentrating on studies would be hard enough, but to have to deal with bipolar, I take my hat off to you there. Do you have any sort of emotional support? If you feel the need to post here, even if it's just to 'vent', feel free.

Good luck with uni.

Hi all, I’ve had a bit of a look at these forums from time
to time, but thought today I’d drop in and say hi.

Things have been going well in my life lately. As a little background
I am 28, have had a previous diagnosis of bipolar II and after struggling with
alcohol for some time, been sober ten months now (thanks I think to dealing
with my other issues as well as the alcohol problem specifically, oh and a bit of good luck!). I’m in my final year at uni after many years
on and off studying and just finding this last bit hard with trying to focus on
finishing placements, exam prep etc and not being distracted by the prospect of
finishing (and all that that entails).
All going well I should be finished in July. Anyway, just thought I'd check in. All the best 🙂

Hello Jayno

Welcome and thankyou for posting too! 10 months sober and that is a huge achievement...congrats to you! Being in your final year of Uni you have come a long way. I wanted to give you my heartfelt support in the difficult period you going through. As Lynda mentioned...do you have a support network as in a couple of friends that you can bounce off?

You are not on your own and well done to you for having the courage to post. There are many kind people on the forums that are here for you

You are more than welcome to post back

My Kind Thoughts

Paul

Hi again and thanks for the replies.

Lynda, to be honest I don't know what I'm going to do after I finish, which bothers me at times, but just trying to focus on the task at hand, one day at a time as they say... I'll be a vet but have know idea where I'll end up. Med-wise after many months of 'fine-tuning' I feel like that's helping me a lot. Fortunately I have a good working relationship with my Dr who I check in with regularly. I am lucky to have a couple of people I know who I can talk to and have been very patient with me in my recovery but I am conscious of being a burden too.

Thanks also Paul, I really appreciate the support. I felt a bit strange writing here online, but just feeling a little lost/uncertain maybe and thought I'd say 'hi.' Today was a good day and I got out for a run tonight so all's well.

Hi Jayne

Beautiful K9 you have there. I have a rescued Chow Chow G/Shepard cross..65kilo lol...he is a gentle soul. I still feel somewhat strange posting on here too by the way. I joined in January while I was being made redundant and having depression for many years and like you have a crackerjack GP who I see for a 'tune up'

Greyhound? Just wondering

Kind Thoughts and thanks for posting back too!
